Best free website hosting?

Post by noiseredux »

curious about free web hosting. I knew a bit HMTL but haven't messed with it since like 2004. Even then I wasn't a pro, so any sort of Easy Builder Drag & Drop kind of interface would be sweet.

Eventually I'd plan to upgrade to non-free/non-ads when I had the $, but for now...

These days I'd honestly just suggest getting a Wordpress or Blogger set up. You can make it look very un blog like with themes and just a little sly code editing.

I know Google has websites kind of like the old days of Geocities and Anglefire but I haven't used it.

Hands down the best hosting, it's ridiculously cheap. Once you get to the point that you need more bandwidth you can look into more value for money hosting, but for a beginning website you can easily get a good few months out of just $10. There is nowhere out there that can offer the same amount of flexibility and power than NFS can for the money, best of all, no ads, it's fully Wordpress etc compatible. You can have as many (or as little) SQL databases as you need (if you're going to make a proper website with dynamic content) and it's super flexible.

I was gonna mention this, but I got distracted by something. I just host my pictures there, but you can have a real website and such too.

My site is through Web Hosting Hub.

Honestly, I can't say enough about it. 24/7 service, no automated system to go through, unlimited storage, unlimited bandwidth, and a great site control panel are really awesome. The CP can automatically install Wordpress, phpBB, and a few other softwares automatically for you. It runs at $7/month for a year, $6/month for two years, and $5/month for three years of hosting.

Any issues I've had (very few) have been solved within ten minutes of me calling them. First class service.

As long as you aren't looking for a custom theme or functionality you can't get in a plugin then you shouldn't have do any code work. Wordpress is absolutely the way to go. How committed are you to the site? If you are serious about it you will want to find a hosting company and make sure they have a wordpress installer in their tools as it sound like you wouldn't want to do the manual wordpress database and configuration set up.

The big advantage to Wordpress is all the content is in the database. That way you can take the database and manipulate it into a billion different things, quick and easily.

if I start a WordPress, can I somehow allow other people to blog on the same WordPress without giving them MY login info? Meaning, can multiple bloggers be given seperate access to the same WordPress site?

I assume you mean WordPress.com. Yes, you can invite whoever you want to a blog of yours without your login info. Keep in mind, though, that if you so much as want to put a background picture in your blog, you'll have to pay for premium service.

Yep anyone can blog on a wordpress site; all you need to do is give them permissions to do so.

I'm not sure what limitations are there for the free Wordpress sites but overall it probably just depends on your theme and plugins.

If you're curious this is what I did with my free blogger (I really need do something with this url again)
