So I have an NES toploader, but the coax port on my television is broken. My TV has all the other hook ups (VGA, composite, etc.) and they work just fine, but alas, the top loader wants none of that. NOTE: I DO NOT WANT TO MOD MY TOP LOADER
So what I'm wondering is there some kind of device or adapter that will act as the middle man between my top loader and my TV, allowing it to hook up to one of these other ports on the television.
Thanks,
Zack

Explain? I already tried this and got nothing. Curious if I did it wrong.vlame wrote:use a vcr. /thread

If you have an old VCR that has a coax input, plug your NES into it and run av out to the TV from the VCR. You'll have to turn the VCR and change the channel on the VCR to 3 or 4 and set the TV to video input.
you could also get another kind of rf to av adaptor but I'd personally rather mod the top loader for AV out. If you are interested I know someone that can perform the mod for you or look up a guide online.

I picked up a really nice crt flat panel 27" Sony Trinitron off craigslist for $20, this might be a good time to upgrade to a proper gaming rig. People practically give away CRTs now.

go to 7:30
put the nes to wire from the nes to the vcr ant in, set the nes to 3 or 4 and tune the VCR to 3 or 4, have the av out fro the vcr got to he newer tv.

Ok, I got it to work. It's been a while since I've used a VCR >_<...
I'd mod the top loader myself, but I've ruined enough things soldering to know that it wouldn't be wise of me. Once I have a bit more in the way of expendable income I may have someone else do it for me.

I just know a guy from another forum that does the mod well and likes to take trades. Going through the VCR is a quick fix but you are losing picture quality that way.Zevin_Mars wrote:Ok, I got it to work. It's been a while since I've used a VCR >_<...

idk that you lose picture quality. It all depends on the quality of the VCR's comb filter vs the TVs.
