I really hate that new is used BS policy. So I don't usually buy new games there unless its really cheap. Hell even their used games aren't usually that much cheaper than buying them new on Amazon. But for used games sometimes their prices are ok enough. I got both Iridion games for the GBA for like 3 bucks so that's something. Even if the game was $0.01 on Amazon, it would still be 4 dollars because of shipping.
I think the whole problem of it being the last one in stock could be remedied by making the gutted shelf copy be marked down as used.

I only buy at GS if the game is 50% cheaper than online. The employees are nice at mine though, as I'm a regular, but the games don't have cases

Re: Worst experience at Gamestop today
Gamestop has been a joke for a few years now. I visited two local gamestops over the last week and did not end up purchasing anything at either place. The few items I was interested in were ridiculous prices for used ps2 games. Fuck those guys. Live and die by Amazon for me now. Ebay also makes pleasant surprises sometimes.

Re: Worst experience at Gamestop today
Something similar happened to me, only they finally let me trade the new gutted copy for an actual sealed game. It took 3 managers and 2 weeks, so I am not going to shop at GS ever again. I just buy my games at big box stores or online.
Re: Worst experience at Gamestop today
The one location I generally go to has very nice employee's. They're very helpful and we usually strike up conversations about retro games. Granted they are still plagued at working for a company that cares very little about games or customer appreciation.
Another gamestop I went to a couple weeks ago was amazing. It was in a very rural town that I had to go to for a radio broadcast. While there I stopped in the gamestop and it was a hidden gem. The manager was awesome and they had an entire rack dedicated to mint complete ps2 games. The best part was they were all averaging about $1.99. The most expensive were some rpg's for $4.89. I ended up clearing them out almost haha. The manager there even told me he won't accept used games unless they are complete and in mint condition.
Anywho, some minor updates on the situation.
First, I had to go to the post office about 20 minutes ago to pick up a package. It's located in the same mall as this gamestop so I figured I might as well go check to see who was working. Thankfully there were 2 different employees and Mark was nowhere to be found. So I bought the sealed version for full price this time, with the intention of going to the better gamestop near me tomorrow and returning the gutted copy and getting my money back. All this trouble because of this ridiculous manager...
The other update was I received a call from a district manager. That was pretty fast considering I didn't think they'd call me back for weeks. Sadly though, it was the wrong district manager as he lived in North Carolina, haha. He thought I lived there too and apologized, claiming they mixed up complaints and he was sent mine by accident. He assured me he would personally get it to the district manager in my area... or at least in my country. So I continue to wait graciously. He was very nice about it though.

I just dont get the gutted new game thing they pull. I wanted to buy a game a while back that had just come out, each gamestop I went to had only the gutted version of it. They said each store was only getting 1 or 2 of this game and that my luck was pretty slim on finding it still sealed so I never bought the game.

Pretty much what happened to me back a few years ago when Arcana Heart came out (example I can think of anyway). They were only getting a few copies per store, and were basically gutting all of them to put on some little display for new games.jay_red wrote:I just dont get the gutted new game thing they pull. Only, in my case, I bought it from Amazon instead.

Sometimes though GameStop does have a decent price for a used game. Got Persona for PSP for 18 bucks and the cheapest on amazon was 30 UMD only after shipping. Mine was CIB though

I had a similar act like this one. Walked into a gamestop that "had" a gamecube broadband adapter and they said sorry but I'll search. She searched and said there was one in upsate NJ and it would be shipped to my local Stop and will call me when it is in. Never called. 3 years later never heard a peep.Jamisonia wrote:He most likely broke the law. Its usually illegal to refuse to sell somebody something that is for sale for the general public.
You should have gotten his name and the number and called corporate when you were in the store, and told them he was refusing to sell you a game. I don't know very much about Gamestop's policies, but I would hope, and believe this manager will be fired.
My experience with Gamestop's corporate is pending. I recently was looking for GCN component cables at store that was said to have them in Tennessee. The employee confirmed their database said they had them, but he refused to look for them outside of glancing around. The next day the cables were no longer listed as being in stock at that store. I suspected foul play, so I contacted Gamestop. The DM said he would look into it. He never commented whether or not the employee bought them himself, however; when replied he was very apologetic and said he was having GCN component cables shipped from Kentucky to a store near me. I say my experience is pending because they're were supposed to arrive before the weekend, and they haven't yet.
This manager's behavior was atrocious. You will probably get the employee discount on one game or accessory. I'd think about buying a used system to really make it worth while.

I hate to be 'that' guy but isn't there a thread for this already? You know the one that is like 76 pages long?
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
