Total Games for 2011: 43

Thoughts on the Game(s)

A really fun, short RPG, I enjoyed it quite a bit, very simple and straight forward, it can be repetitive with most of the game, which went for around 4 hours, taking place between 2 locations with you having to backtrack and go to the same 2 locations over and over again.

The jokes in the game didn't make me laugh, but its odd enough to enjoy. It's a shame the episodes for such a high price because I am sure if they sold it for a lower price it would have been really successful. Shame only 2 of the 4 episodes got released.

These were like $1.80 for both during the Steam summer sale.

Just beat FarCry. Using cheats and .ini hacks.

Who programmed that thing? That was the most stupidly difficult game I've ever played and I love how everyone says "DONT RUN AND GUN, SNIPE THE ENEMIES AND USE STEALTH" yet stealth is nearly broken since enemies have super sight and they can see you from 10000 yards so sniping or stealth isn't a choice when you have 10 enemies and 5 mutants with rocket launchers trying to kill you. This is the equivalent to S&M in the shape of a videogame, it's for masochists only.

Also, there are no manual save or quick save options from default, you have to enable the developer's mode and hack the .ini to be able to save anytime and since the checkpoints are fairly spaced and distant it makes the game even more frustrating, it's a PC exclusive, it should have that option "on" by default.

At least it looks good.

Huh. I don't remember Far Cry giving me nearly that much trouble. The mutants were pretty cheap, so I won't fault you on that, but I still managed to beat the game without too much hassle. I'm sorry you had such problems with it.

As for checkpoint-based saving...I put up with it, but it's now a dirty word in FPS. I hope it dies completely in the near future.

The problem is that in something like... Crysis or F.E.A.R. there are lots of checkpoints and they are frequent while in FarCry or COD they are very spaced out so if you play FarCry on Normal or COD on Veteran then you'll end up getting frustrated before you actually progress.

I still like COD and the SP campaigns are fairly fun though. It's like a large budget interactive action movie.

Thank you! God, I've died so many times in Far Cry it's not even funny. It's seriously hard as hell. I kind of like the masochist games, so I'm still playing on normal difficulty and I haven't altered any .ini files, but DANG it's hard at times!

I thought Crysis was even harder, but Far Cry was a lot better overall. The mutants were so lame though.

Oh God yes, on all accounts. In Crysis there was a segment that I remember at night where you had to escape a horde of troops, snipers on a bridge, and a helicopter wandering overhead. I literally spent six hours crawling from tree to tree and through tall grass with the stealth camo activated, waiting at each point for it to recharge enough to inch through the next section without getting slaughtered. Several times that helicopter decided to go Act of God mode on me and shoot me anyway, despite my precautions. After that, FarCry felt like a cakewalk, crappy mutants aside.
