So how do I play these BS Zelda games. Obviously emulation, but what emulator. Mind you I have never emulated a game before in my life (ports excepted).

ZSNES. And I'll also be using a mod that changes makes the main character to look like Link.

I might play those with you then. I've been helping my gf through LttP and beyond. We're to Wind Waker now. We'll go back an play the originals, but honestly I think they might be a little hard for her. LoZ and Zelda II are definitely the hardest in the series. Especially Zelda II.

I never found the original LoZ to be hard if you pick up all the items you can possibly get at the beginning of the game. Zelda 2 on the other hand... *shivers*

Nonetheless, time to get started on my run through of the Game and Watch Zelda game!

Beating the first few rooms, nothing overly exciting. I find out odd how the Poe (Or ghost) rarely shoots at you.
Got the "Water of life" which is basically a extra life and a health booster. You run out of hearts and the water of life revives you with 5 hearts.
Got the Tomahawk which is the only offensive item in the game and is used to kill the dragon at the end of each dungeon.
And I finally get the Map, pretty much self explanatory. Unfortunately, I got it right before the Dragon so it's utterly pointless.
Beat the Dragon and got the first piece of the Triforce, all with one heart left! Thankfully I have a Potion for when I do get hit!

More monsters to kill. Got the Tomahawk and Map early this time around.
Had to use the Potion in the last room. :| The Moblin dropped a heart when I killed him, didn't know that was a item drop! Got another potion, started to get worried there!
Killed the dragon without getting hit once, woohoo.

Holy crap, a room with four Stalfos. Never seen that before. Beat it easily and got the Tomahawk.
I died. The attack button, that I set to A, wasn't working for some reason. I'll try again later.

EDIT
Okay, let's try this again!
Going through the first dungeon easily, beat the whole thing only taking two hits.
Had to to use my Potion. Apparently, when Link is at full health, he shoots sword beams like in the original. Beat the second boss, nothing excited. Died in the next room. <_<
I'm in no mood to try again right now.

I've been playing Zelda Game and Watch on and off for the past few days, no success so far xD

Somewhat off-topic: My OOT3D Soundtrack from Club Nintendo came the mail yesterday. Nothing overly exciting, just a straight port of the music from OOT3D. But hey, it was free.

Playing through Spirit Tracks on DSi right now. I love it. Combines my love of the old style Zelda games with the art style of Wind Waker.
Older. Not wiser.

Going to (finally) be starting Zelda 1 tonight.
EDIT: Beat Zelda 1 last night, 100%-ed it pretty easily. Didn't feel like documenting my progress since nothing out of the ordinary happened.

Starting Zelda 2 later today. Anyone know that Zelda 2's opening theme got a remake on the SNES? I'll just quote the video here to explain:
This is an official 16-bit version of the Zelda II title theme remade by Nintendo and used on the SNES Burn-in Test Cartridge used by Nintendo's service department.
The video!

Update for ya guys. Some good news and some bad news.
Good news: I beat Zelda 2 and A link to the Past recently. Zelda 2 was unexpectedly awesome. Really, why the hell does everyone hate the game?
Other good news. Skyward sword's release date for NA has been announced, November 20th. Which is coincidentally my birthday!

Bad news: The computer I use with all my ROMs and emulators died recently So no AST for me. :(

I'll be moving on to Link's Awakening DX next.
