Anywhoo, will softmodding allow you to play Gamecube games from other regions as well?

Yes. You softmod and then can access any region GC or Wii disc via a loader channel. They must be original discs though, unless you've also gone to the trouble of chipping your drive.

Good to know, I would be using original disks so I'm strongly considering actually getting around to doing the softmod now. Thanks!

Just run gecko os from the homebrew channel. It loads import titles just fine that way and it saves the trouble of installing a gecko os channel.

EDIT:
You don't need anything too special to do this either. Just a plain homebrew channel install works fine. The homebrew channel does for about anything now and saves a lot of hassles.

I personally find loading the homebrew channel and then having to load some software every time I want to play an import disc to be annoying. Forwarder channels for the applications I use most often are much more convenient.

To each their own though.

Yeah, it could save time to make a forwarder channel. Malformed channels mess up your wii pretty bad though so I just play it safe and only use the homebrew channel.

Yes! I had only used the Wii on component on my CRT when I saw it on an LCD... yuck. Jaggies galore. Anyone play on a plasma set? I've heard they're not as bad as LCDs for the Wii...
