I just picked up 3 N64 Controllers all with 1st Party Nintendo Rumble Packs in them. Two of the three rumble packs are stuck inside the controller and cant be removed.
I also cannot seem to pry off the battery packs on either of them.
I've tried to use a knife to pry them out but don't want to damage the controller body too bad, and I've also tried some WD-40 which did not seem to work.
Any suggestions on how I can get these suckers out?

Re: Stuck N64 Rumble Packs
I have a Jumper Pack that's stuck in one of my DC controllers. Maybe the solution for your Rumble Paks will work for my Jumper Pack, once someone says what that solution is.

You probably did, so don't be offended. Did you push the button above the Rumble pack under the controller? As for the rotted batteries, I had the same problem on a NES ROB Robot. Just soaked the WD40 for a few hours, got lucky.lunarroyale wrote:I just picked up 3 N64 Controllers all with 1st Party Nintendo Rumble Packs in them. No offense taken. I did press the button above the Rumble pack and I still can't seem to get them out. Will submerging controller in WD-40 do any damage to the inner workings if it seeps in?CRTGAMER wrote: You probably did, so don't be offended. Hopefully the WD-40 will help remove both the rumble pack and the battery cover.

I'm no expert, but yes, I would say so.lunarroyale wrote:Will submerging controller in WD-40 do any damage to the inner workings if it seeps in?

Re: Stuck N64 Rumble Packs
I've opened up N64 controllers, and I dare say I think the WD40 would have a hard time getting in and to anything important, if it was just spayed up into the controller slot.
It seems that Wd40 does conduct electricity though. So don't put the controller or rumble pak in a bucket of WD40 or something.
Be prepared for a naaaaaasty mess when you get that battery door off. Open it over a trash can. You'll probably have to scrape on pak's battery contacts to get them working again. Unless it is scraped off, all that corrosion will prevent the new batteries from making contact with the contacts. I had a rumble pak that initially appeared broken because the junk on the contacts wasn't letting the batteries connect.

Re: Stuck N64 Rumble Packs
those controllers may have been left out in the sun or placed in a hot place. The Plastic has expanded.
One time, when I bought a controller, I had found it with a shiny third party rumble pack in it. Took me a while to pry it out. didnt use any wd40. just every once in a while I would wiggle it untill it finally came loose.
Once you remove the pak tho, if you put it back in the controller it may get stuck again but it will be easier to remove it again.
just take your time and pry it out.

Actually, good point. Stick it in the freezer for a bit and it might contract some so you can get it out while it is cold. Just don't leave it in there too long and be careful with the analog stick and the lock button in case the pad has been abused and the plastic is a little brittle already. let it sit at room temp for a while before plugging it in just in case there's some condensation.flojocabron wrote:those controllers may have been left out in the sun or placed in a hot place.
