4-in-1 Action Replay Plus and Vampire Savior

so there is this, it tells you how to make your AR work with VS. But how can you tell if it needs this mod? I just traded for another AR4M Plus, it looks exactly like the one that I have had for a few years (my old can does work with VS) but this one has the parallel port on top.

Is there something I can look for on the pcb that will tell me if it is in need of this mod?

Just try it and see if it loads. Though there might be a revision number on the board (I can't remember) and another guide somewhere that will tell you what revision, not just a date.
