Re: Is Gamestop Evil? The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
When I worked for the company MANY years ago, I was in charge of all the preowned stock. I knew just about everything that was traded in and in the inventory. I hardly ever go back to my old employer because of how much they have changed.
Check out my Trade thread!

I just cut the guy off as soon as he starts pressing me to buy stuff I don't want with a firm "No."Hazerd wrote:Didnt read any posts in this thread, but im so sick of going to GameStop and them asking me if i want a damn GameInformer card, or if i want to reserve a game... all i want to do is buy the damn item.

It's not the employees fault that they have to ask you that. The company makes them. I worked at Blockbuster and it was the same way. If you don't ask those things, you get in trouble.

And now Blockbuster is on life support. Coincidence?BurningDoom wrote:It's not the employees fault that they have to ask you that. The company makes them. I worked at Blockbuster and it was the same way. If you don't ask those things, you get in trouble.

No. Blockbuster went the way of the dinosaur because of Netflix and poor business decisions.BoringSupreez wrote:And now Blockbuster is on life support. I know, but it's fun to pretend that Gamestop isn't bulletproof.YoshiEgg25 wrote:No. Blockbuster went the way of the dinosaur because of Netflix and poor business decisions.BoringSupreez wrote:And now Blockbuster is on life support. I shop online and avoid that altogether. I hate that they make their employees ask that stuff, and I hate always having to say no when all I'm trying to do is get a game.Hazerd wrote:Didnt read any posts in this thread, but im so sick of going to GameStop and them asking me if i want a damn GameInformer card, or if i want to reserve a game... all i want to do is buy the damn item.

Re: Is Gamestop Evil? The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Don't employees also get some kind of credit for convincing a customer to sign up for the powerup rewards card or pre-order an item? I seem to remember reading this somewhere but I may be wrong.
Also remember the vast majority of people that go to gamestop aren't as plugged in as the majority of the members on this forum. They might not be aware of upcoming titles and the employee asking if they want to preorder something might open a conversation in which the consumer learns about a new game that they wish to preorder. Personally, if I want to preorder something I know ahead of time before I go to GS since I rarely buy games new, so it does get tiring after a while.
