Eeeeewww! Thanks, I'll stay away from that.noiseredux wrote:that was the Advance Game Port, made by datel. It only played GBA, not GB or GBC. It was terrible because it used software emulation which was very very glitchy and it would save to the AGP itself rather than to the carts so you couldn't start a game on the Cube and then continue on a GBA. Really a horrible device. The ONLY reason to get one is if you wanted to use it on your Wii -- but even then it won't work with newer firmwares anyway. Oh, and YES it did require a bootdisc.
What's that hanging on your Gamecube? Quick, Kill it Kill it
Anyways, it could actually be useful if a game stops saving for some reason (I have a copy of Metroid Zero Mission that won't save even with a new save Battery (yes, it's legit and uses one)).
Aesthetically, I'd take the nice perfect "Cube" form factor of the GBPlayer anyday.
Some games still supported some enhanced colors though, like Pokemon Pinball and Pokemon TCG. And I seem to remember one of the Dragon Warrior games locking in on a special color palette, whiched changed (along with the border) depending on what screen you were on. It had nothing to do with GBC and wasn't as enhanced, I understand. But it was still neat that Nintendo supported the SGB for as long as it did, even if they removed the user/custom colors.alienjesus wrote:The enhanced colour palette is for the game boy color hardware, and as the super game boy essentially functions as a classic game boy, you won't be getting the colour enhancements on it. The borders are designed for the super game boy, so you will get those.
I don't think it emulates ALL of the SNES though, just a small part of it. Otherwise the GB emulator for DS wouldn't be able to pull it off (I think). Most (if not all recent) PC emulators usually offer the option.theclaw wrote:Yeah basically SGB games had some SNES access. So for a full SGB environment, an emulator must run both simultaneously. Most emus don't bother.
And as a side note, I think the Brain Boy had a "colorizer" feature that could de-colorize a game so that you could do a custom (4-color) palette with black cart games on a SGB. Not what anyone was asking for I guess, but an interesting option. I haven't tried it yet though, and I have no idea if it still yeilds the special borders. I'll report back to confirm.
