Saturn question

Post by nateup2 »

I have a question about burned games. I noticed that during screen changes that the picture will flicker on some games. I noticed it on Samurai Spirits 4, MK trilogy -during fatalities, and many others at various times. All of these games are burned and I wondered if that was why or if it happens with non-burned games too. Do burned games play differently? Part of my concern is if my cd rom drive is going out or something. I also noticed it with some burned dreamcast games. Could it be my TV? Its like a skip in the picture that creates lines in the screen, distorting whatever is on it.

Thanks

My saturn does that when I load imports with an action replay and even on a few us games after the SEGA logo screen. I don't think it hurts the cd drive any. Maybe someone else has more info as to why it happens......

Does it do it during screen changes... like in fighting games before the fight? Thanks much for the info!

Anybody else?

Hmmm I'm sure I've seen this happen as the game loads and I think I've seen it happen in game as well although I wouldnt swear to having seen this.
If its always when the screen changes I would say its down to the code taking to long over a particular task leading to one of the graphics subprocessors not synching properly for some reason as the new scene is loaded. The saturn is a clever bit of kit but it is well known for being difficult to program so its not inconceivable that it could be due to sloppy programming.
