We also saw transformers 3 last night. We had fun with it. I went to this expecting a bunch of crazy action, and that's what I got. So it was cool. I understand why people wouldn't like it though.

That said, it beat the hell out of the second one.

I thought the first was better than I was expecting, but still not good.
I thought the first one had a lot of charm.

I've seen several films since last posting stuff about them, so I'll probably only list the last couple.

X-Men: First Class: Meh.

The Mechanic: In a remarkable change from his normal roles, Jason Statham plays a guy who makes his living outside of the law.

I actually really like Jason Statham a lot. This is a remake of a Charles Bronson film I've never actually watched (like most Charles Bronson films). There were plenty of cliches and awkward dialog. Particularly enjoyable was Donald Sutherland giving the standard "You're a loner... You're the best at what you do..." speech to Statham. Statham plays the same (awesome) guy he usually does. The film really does have three very clearly defined acts. I guess it isn't uncommon for a movie to have three acts, but they seemed more overt in this film than others. Normally, I don't really think about this until after a movie is over, if I think of it at all.

In general, I thought this was a decent, enjoyable, violent action flick. The script is awkward at times, the characters are generally shallow, et cetera, but that goes with the territory. I was actually pretty surprised at how graphic the violence was in this one. Parts of it really were painful to watch.

Beastly: A modern "high school" retelling of Beauty and the Beast. My wife and I rented this one expecting it to be really bad. It really exceeded our expectations. It was way worse than we thought it would be. It wasn't bad movie gold like Troll 2, but there were plenty of unintentional laughs. I did find it to be more entertaining than Avatar.
Systems: TI-99/4a, Commodore Vic-20, Atari 2600, NES, SMS, GB, Neo Geo MVS (Big Red 4-slot), Genesis, SNES, 3DO, PS1, N64, DC, PS2, GBA, GCN, NDSi, Wii

I really liked Insidious. I saw that by myself while it was in theaters. And when I say "by myself" I mean "only freakin' person in the theater." Which was good since there was no one there to see me jump and I had the added bonus of being alone, in the dark, in a large open space watching a decent horror flick. It was a glorious afternoon.

I saw it with my mom and dad even came upstairs when we yelled at the SPOILER: Demon face appearing behind Josh thinking something wrong was going on and well, I can't say he was wrong  . Definetely liked it, James Wan is a fucking genius.

I liked Insidious but that demon guy looked too much like Darth Maul and it took away from the experience.

I wonder if this is the first time Michael Bay recycled scenes from other movies.

edit: nevermind, he did that with the first Transformers movie and Pearl Harbor.

Clerks 2.
Even though I've watched it a million times, I can never get bored of Kevin Smith's humour. Its one of the few comedy sequels I've seen that actually matches up to the original.

What I mean is whenever a sequel comes out that's in the comedy genre, its in my opinion, usually quite shit.
