Re: Where to start?
Maybe it's nostalgia speaking, but I would add Diddy Kong Racing to the suggestions already made.
Consoles: Wii, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, Xbox (x3), Gamecube (x3), Playstation 2 (x2), Dreamcast (x2), Nintendo 64 (x2), Playstation 1 (x3), Saturn, SNES (x2), Sega 32X, Sega CD, Genesis (x4), Gameboy Color, NES.
Re: Where to start?
Damn, according to Backloggery, I'm just at 143. It's slightly less, since stuff like SMB All-Stars counts as 3 games. Maybe it's actually 130 or so. Not all are must-haves!!!Ack wrote:Heh, my current SNES collection is at 177. They're not all good necessarily, but I plan to get a lot more. The Last Horseman wrote:Breetai, I will admit, I try not to get any more than 35 games for a system, unless there are some I absolutely can not pass up. 50 though? Damn. I don't think that I've ever had that many games at once...
The SNES has probably more games that you need than any other system that isn't called "NES", "Playstation" or "Playstation 2". Even then... it still might have the most, depending on your taste. To be honest, if you had 35 great SNES games... you would be very, very happy.
I'll even make a list for you:
Actraiser
Axelay
Ballz 3D
Castlevania IV
Castlevania: Dracula X
Chrono Trigger
Contra III
Donkey Kong Country
Super E.D.F.
Earthworm Jim
F-Zero
Final Fantasy II
Final Fantasy III
Legend of the Mystical Ninja
Gradius III
Mega Man X
NHL '94
Pilotwings
R-Type III
Rock 'n Roll Racing
Sim City
Space Megaforce
Star Fox
Street Fighter II: Turbo
Super Adventure Island
Super Bomberman 2
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts
Super Mario World
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Super Metroid
Super R-Type
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV
Top Gear 2
UN Squadron
Zelda III: A Link to the Past
My top 35 picks for the SNES. I even left off some HUGE "must-haves" like Earthbound (I never really got the hype), Secret of Mana, DKC 2 and 3, Final Fight 1, 2 and 3, Mega Man X2, X3 and 7, Mortal Kombat II, Killer Instinct, Zombies Ate my Neighbors, all imports, etc.
I did that on purpose. If we're talking about Ogre Battles, Ogre Battle 64 is one of the few games that make getting a 64 worthwhile.
For the N64, I will also endorse Paper Mario. It is freaking awesome.
I do not believe you can find 35 N64 games as strong as that list.

Re: Where to start?
I still stand by my statement. These don't match the SNES !games... BUT, they are good games mostly.Ack wrote:35 N64 games...
Haha, the first 10 look awfully familiar from my post....here's 35 more titles that Breetai didn't put in his list of 35...
I cannot believe I didn't put Mario Kart in my list. I actually had it, but I guess I lost it when I ordered them alphabetically.
What? Damn...Oh, and I see your Ballz...

Re: Where to start?
Yeah, I figure it comes down to personal choice. The ones I put up are ones I felt were great and received high general praise. I've got a few personal favorites that didn't make it up, like the port of Hexen. Admittedly there were also a few games on your SNES list I was a little surprised about, like Sim City.Breetai wrote:I still stand by my statement. These don't match the SNES !games... Oh and yeah, the first 10 came from your "I didn't include" spiel. It was too good a chance to pass up.

Haha oh man, nostalgia bomb.Ack wrote:33. NFL Blitz
HAIL MARY!
The N64 was great and I'd say there's a good 30 or so games I'd love to get again someday (sadly traded in a ton of my N64 games years back, haven't really recovered on that one since)... but yeah it's absolutely nothing compared to the SNES or PSX in my book thesedays.

Re: Where to start?
Of course there are a lot. The ones that attract most westerners attention are few, though.kingmohd84 wrote:am not aware that there are any... japanese exclusive games

Re: Where to start?
... I'll work on it when I go to Austin. I will pick up what I can afford. I want an Ice Blue N64, and SNES, possibly the mini SNES. I'm not a fan of Sony, but there are some games I want for PS2, mainly stuff like Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, maybe Ratchet and Clank and God of War. IDK, I hate Sony controllers though.
Also, I can't go buy games very often in person, because DPad in San Marcos is kinda high, and Austin is a drive that can't be made often, so the internet is the only other option, and isn't exactly wallet friendly.

Re: Where to start?
Kinda an update/bump, I got my N64 and Super Mario 64, Goldeneye, and OOT. SM64 however, makes an occasional really loud kinda scratchy noise and freezes... I'm not sure what causes it, but I find it to be really scary for my wallet. I'm also looking to trade my Goldeneye, because I now have about four from friends giving them to me (
