Graphics card withcomposite/S video out

Post by turbolegs »

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a basic graphics card that can handle MAME and some PS1 emulation with composite video or s/video out. The reason being that I would ideally like to hook up my emulation box to an old cathode ray TV for nostalgic reasons. My current flat-screen monitor is just not working for me. Any suggestions would be much appreciated as im not sure how much i should be spending price wise.

Also, if there is any motherboard with decent on-board capabilities and video out that is comparably priced let me know :)

Thanks a lot.

Most more recent stuff has gone to including HDMI and not TV-out. It's gotten more and more scarce, though a filtered search on Newegg still showed one GTX 285 model with it, A GTX 260, etc.

Onboard is harder to find.

You might just want to look around for used - or consider an alternative such as a CRT monitor as many devices still have VGA.

Indeed. Find a used card. Perhaps ebay, a car boot sale, or whatever might be the equivilant of Craigslist over there. Check with people that keep old parts from PC upgrades, or ask here. Just make sure you get the cable that splits the special out plug into composite/svideo that's needed for most cards. Should be able to get something really cheap or free.

You will need to find an old card.

I dunno if the link will work, but you can filter by s video.
