GBA games look horrible on HDTV, GBC don't

Post by Jamisonia »

I have my GBP hooked up using GCN component cables on my HDTV, progressive scan on. I'm not expecting miracles, however; I did expect my GBA games to look better than older Game Boy Color games. I put in Sonic Advance and Super Mario World to find a very pixelated mess. I could clearly see white dots in each square across the screen. So I put in Link's Awakening DX to find a very crisp and clear picture. I don't understand, shouldn't GBA games look at least as good if not better since they're a higher resolution?

I'm using a GBP with filtering set to normal on normal screen mode, not full screen.

A pic comparison? Also make, model and if your HD is a LCD, LED or Plasma.

The TV is a Samsung Plasma. I couldn't really get a good picture of it, I'll try again later on. The best way I can describe it, is ont he characters especially there are rows of white dots. Sonic looks especially bad.

That sounds like it might be the GBP itself. Try cleaning it and the games. I have no problems at all with mine via component on my Samsung Plasma
