Not all N64 games save on the cartridge. Many save using the Nintendo 64's memory card, such as Castlevania 64, Turok 2, and Quest 64. It's worth picking one up.
Well, if you want platformers you're in the right place. The Nintendo 64 is platformer heavy, but was generally considered to lack genres like horror, RPGs, shmups, and quality fighting games. Since you mentioned platformers, here are a few that you should probably look into first:
Super Mario 64
Banjo-Kazooie
Banjo-Tooie
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Yes, only four, but they're all quality, and they'll get you started on the console's library.

Re: Where to start?
Gee guys, thanks for the help. I also might start a SNES collection, as there seem to be quite a few good games for it. I'm not sure whether I will start my N64 or SNES collection first, it depends on the cost and other factors. I deffinetly want to try and get at least one copy of Harvest Moon and Harvest Moon 64, which are moderately rare, and are also part of a series I like. (Up until Gamecube atleast. I understand the new games are pretty sucky.) The SNES collection will most likely come later, as the cost of many of the titles that interest me/I might like are high. (Secret of Mana, Earthbound)
Note: I say collection, but I am getting these games for me to play, not as a collector, except in a few special cases. I don't want a bazillion titles, at most 25 or 30 that I really like.

Systems: Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, N64, Gamecube, Xbox 360
WTB: Boxes for a silver Gamecube System(and a hyperport cover), and a box for an Ice Blue N64 console. Will pay 7.50 for each and shipping.

If that's the case, I'd say go with the N64 collection, as it would generally be cheaper in my experience. But it's your call. The Last Horseman wrote:Gee guys, thanks for the help. Re: Where to start?
Yeah, I agree with this. Also if you have not retro gamed and are used to todays game the N64 is less of a departure from modern gaming than the Super Nintendo. Though, if you are looking to play RPGs you will be very disappointed in the 64. Truthfully, if you are wanting to play RPGs I would go with a Playstation. There are many on there at decent prices (Wild Arms, some FFs....etc)Ack wrote:If that's the case, I'd say go with the N64 collection, as it would generally be cheaper in my experience. Re: Where to start?
I can't thank ya'll guys enough. I haven't gotten this much help in a long time. I'm not sure what else to ask, other than if there are any Gamecube imports I should get before I should start this.
I can't say thank you enough guys, really.
