It applies because it is exactly what you are referring to; the passing of the torch. Almost the entire first act is a "passing of the torch" sequence.
It's not exactly what I'm referring to. It's sort of similar. But I'm still not even sure if you're referring to Ra's al ghul training bruce to follow him (although it's never suggested that Bruce is going to become the next Ra's, I thought he was being used because of his knowledge of gotham) or if you're referring to Bruce following in his fathers footsteps of trying to help gotham, although he goes about it in pretty much the exact opposite way.

Either way, one Batman is not training another to become his successor. And it's not the same as Dick Grayson becoming Batman or John stewart taking over for Hal Jordan. Which is what I was saying I wanted to see, an established and known superhero character, facing his last days at a superhero, and training the next one to take over for him.

Lady in the Lake - Man, I love Philip Marlowe. And while Robert Montgomery didn't strike me as much as Humphrey Bogart did (hey, how could he? It's Humphrey fucking Bogart.), he certainly did a hell of a job being one of my favorite hard-boiled asshole private eyes. But what makes Lady in the Lake stand out is its usage of first person perspective for the entire film. While critics bashed it for being dull, the film feels more like an FMV video game...which is why I loved it so much. Fans of FMV games, behold, a movie made for you!

Shame about the ending though. No film noir should end like that.

Pfft! If RENT crossed over with any comic book property, it'd have to be Spider-Man. Ironically, not only was Spidey mentioned in RENT (not the film version), but Neil Patrick Harris has played both Peter Parker (in MTV's "Spider-Man") and Mark Cohen, the main character of RENT.

The Hitcher. Rutger Hauer really carried this entire picture. Some of the action scenes were pretty crazy. I was surprised by how good the cinematography was. Overall, I enjoyed it. Looking forward to Hobo with a Shotgun.

Eraserhead. Watched it for the first time. I like it, I like a lot of things about it. It's just really fucking ugly at points. But it's got some pretty weird humor in there too. Not my favorite from Lynch. But pretty good.

Barton Fink. I love so many things about this movie. All of the symbolism in the hotel and everything. Its so masterful. The acting is great, possibly the best I've ever seen out of John Turturro. John Goodman was so enjoyable. I love rewatching this and seeing or hearing things I didn't before. Quickly becoming my favorite Coens movie.

Jack Goes Boating. I checked this out because I really like Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and after hearing he was directing a film starring himself as a lonely aging stoner, I kind of wanted to see it. So I saw it, and I really liked it. The acting carried it, especially from Hoffman and Amy Adams. Great character piece.

Hobo with a Shotgun

Saw this at a late night showing at the theater and what a great movie. Not to spoil anything I will just say that my favorite laugh out loud scene involves a flamethrower

I heard it's like watching a Troma film with an A-List star, that alone got me hooked.

THE GOONIES

CARS 2

We all know THE GOONIES is awesome, so there is not much to add.

CARS 2 is one of the Pixar movies I don't feeling like watching again. It's not a bad film by any means, just not up to par with Pixar's usual standard.
