according to Wiki there was an issue with VC games in the PAL region and pressing Z+A+2 in the operations menu can fix it.

Ah didnt realise that it was a PAL only bug, thought that this might be your problem ziggy as it makes the scan lines go all over the place when a VC game is running.

Ziggy, does this happen consistently? Like with a certain game at a certain time or randomly? What brand of TV are you using, What brand of component cables?

I thought there was a HDMI adapter for the Wii all ready? It was not a cable though, just a little dongle for the back of the console.

Am I making this up?

There is a huge demand for people who want to upgrade their graphics without dealing with the hassle of five-plug component cables.
"the hassle"...?!
I'm supposed to believe there are enough people out there who can't wrap their head around five-plug component cables as to create a "huge demand" for a single cable?

I've done tech support for two TV service providers. Believe it. :(

Well I haven't used the component cables with 480p in a while, cause that would cause anything (Wii game, Photo Channel, VC games, everything) to freeze every so often. The picture would actually freeze for a few seconds then return to normal (with the audio continuing). But when I was using the component cables with 480i, it was only VC games that had a problem. My TV would actually loose the signal (black screen with "no input signal" message). It seemed random at first, and it might be to a certain extent, but I noticed that certain games and a certain time will cause the TV to loose the signal.

When I was playing Rondo of Blood on VC, it would happen randomly. I would have to change the TV to another input then back again to get the picture back. But this one time it happen, after I lost the picture I paused the game, cycled the inputs, then continued the game and it happened again. Its been a while, but I kinda remember it happening at a specific spot in a certain level every time.

My TV is a Dell 32" (yes, that's right, Dell use to make HDTVs). I'm using official Nintendo component cables.

Why? Have you experienced this before?

What a waste of money lol. A $5 Chinese component cable is just as good.

The same reason why the fragile SVideo cable came out years ago, a crap design. The Commodore 64 had separate solid RCA jacks for Chroma and Luma, a shame it didn't become the standard for SVideo.
