The DS (original, lite, i & XL) is not region locked. The i & XL are only region locked in regards to DSiWare and DSi only games. DSi *enhanced* games that play on any DS but use extra features when inserted into a DSi, are only region locked when played in a DSi.

I didn't know that. I might start importing games now.

this game is freaking ridiculous. even if the game plays cool, i think the premise it outright stupid.

look at the girl at 53 and 58 seconds... that's going even further than some bouncing boobs. its pretty tasteless.

That's true. The hentai game market would probably boom in 3D. Although I also think it'd be hard for a parent to explain the existence of their 3DS porn stash to their kid.

Hey guys. Remember this thread?

I just got my game today and played it for about 30 minutes. It also came with a soundtrack CD and a drama CD, but I haven't listened to those yet.

Senran Kagura is your typical mindless arcade style beat-em-up. You can do combos, juggle enemies, dash around, do special attacks and also transform. I only did the training stage and the first normal mission, and it was very easy. Hopefully the game gets more challenging later and it actually require a change of tactics to beat.

The game is put together nicely with a hub room. You can change options, save your progress, change characters and outfits and view your stats and progress.

The game starts with a nice anime style opening. It was in 2D by the way.

And that brings me to the most interesting thing about this game. Something that I didn't know until actually playing it. I'm talking about how the game uses the 3D effect.

Out of all of the 3DS games I have played, Senran Kagura has the best use of 3D. And no, this is not a joke about 3D tits. I'm serious. So how does Senran Kagura use the 3D so damn well, you ask? That's easy! It doesn't!

The only times the game is in 3D are when characters are talking to each other (typically before a mission to explain the story and goal behind it), and for the short battle transformation and victory cutscenes. The game itself, where you run around and beat up people, is not in 3D. The hub area is not in 3D. This works great! I am so happy they did it this way. Normally I would be forced to turn 3D off in order to be able to play the game, but this way I can leave it on, and feel like it actually benefits the game. Every other 3DS game I've played had 3D that only got in the way and made the game worse.

And lastly, the big bouncing breasts on all of those cute anime girls are very nice to look at. Anyone who watches anime will know what to expect here. It's basically normal fan service anime style stuff, which is something I enjoy. The voice actors are anime quality as well, and they moan and say erotic things often. In the short time I played the game, the main ninja girl Asuka was talking about how she hides her ninja scroll in her chest, and another ninja girl was super excited about that and wanted to explore to find out exactly how she hides it.

To sum up my first impressions, the game is pretty much exactly what I thought it would be. A fun little brawler with big breasted girls. Hopefully I find the time to play more of it soon.

Thanks for the report, Ina! What you described is EXACTLY what I want in this 3D Nintendo system! I don't want to play simplistic gameplay in annoyingly forced 3D.. Awesome to hear.. Really makes me wish the 3DS was region-free...
