Metroid Prime on GC vs Wii
So I recently picked up a Wii and have been playing Metroid: Other M. It is a fun game, but I feel like the motion controls take away from the fun rather than add to it. I was planning on picking up Metroid Prime: Trilogy for the Wii, but now I am worried that I won't enjoy playing them on the Wii. So what do you think? Are the first two Metroid Prime games better on the Gamecube or the Wii?

Wii, no question. The Metroid Prime games define how motion control should be handled. Other M is just a hot mess.WiseFool22 wrote:So I recently picked up a Wii and have been playing Metroid: Other M. It would be soooo much better if the entire game was the side-scrolling and you never had to go into first person mode. And if the voice acting/story wasn't so pathetic.irixith wrote:Other M is just a hot mess.
So Prime with motion controls is better than with the GC controllers? That's what I was hoping.

Re: Metroid Prime on GC vs Wii
Take it from me. Even though I bought a Wii at launch, I'm NOT a fan of the Wii wand. No matter what Nintendo wants us to think, it isn't a very good general purpose controller and works in only very specialized games.
With that said, the best version of Metroid Prime 1 and 2 are absolutely the Wii builds. These are games that the point and shoot nature of the Wiimote plus nunchuck actually make sense. Combat is faster, movement more precise, and plus the Prime Trilogy is one hell of a value considering you're getting somewhere in the range of 60-90 hours unless you're playing for speedruns.
There is a learning curve involved with the controls, but once mastered the controls are the same for all three gamees, there are bonus unlockables in the Metroid Prime trilogy and you'll find that once you learn the Wii controls, you'll never be able to go back and play the Prime games on Gamecube again. The GC controls will just seem so primitive in comparison. It's a lot like how twin stick halo-style controls have made N64 FPS games like Goldeneye unplayable.
Other M doesn't work nearly as well in first person because you can't move, and it doesn't make a lot of sense for the type of game that Other M is.
There's a reason Metroid Prime is the best game on Gamecube, and there's a reason why the Prime Triology sells for so much - its actually good.

Goldeneye already has a twin stick mode, like all the other N64 shooters. C buttons are forward back left right, stick is aiming.Satoshi_Matrix wrote:Take it from me. I'm glad I picked up the Trilogy when it was new, seeing as how they quickly halted it's production and they're a little rare now. Whenever I get a Wii again I'm absolutely stoked to play 1-2 again with the Wii controls, they were absolutely perfect for Prime 3. I had no problem with the stiff controls on the Cube, but it's certainly going to be a nice upgrade.

They're $60 at Gamestop used. I saw two copies there, one had their bobo generic case, and one had the tin case without the slip cover. I can't get over that Gamestop charges the same amount for a game regardless of condition or completeness.

That's because people are willing to pay the same amount regardless of condition or completeness. Gamestop wouldn't do it if people didn't encourage them.Jamisonia wrote:They're $60 at Gamestop used. Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Gamestop online and Gamestop in-store are quite frequently priced differently.yomomma1 wrote:According to gamestop.com they are 70 dollars, used.Jamisonia wrote:They're $60 at Gamestop used.
