Believe me, I dont feel antagonized or intimidated. I wonder if I hadnt revealed my age, if the responses would've actually been a bit different.

Getting a tattoo is something I've mulled over for about 10 years. There's so many things I've thought about as far as concept. I'm a gamer, a bassist, a Celt, a father....you get the idea. The two i've been the longest is Celt and Gamer. heh. Sadly, things can change for some people and idioms modify direction. One thing I can be sure of is that I will game.

Seems like there's a lot of talk here from people that have never gotten a tattoo. Here's the thing, and you can ask any one with at least one tattoo, IT'S NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL! It really isn't. Especially if it's in a hidden location, like an upper arm that'll be hidden even with short sleeves. The only people that'll make a big deal about tattoos, and try to talk you out of getting one, are people that don't have tattoos.

And as for tattoo removal... any one that has to get a tattoo removed is a moron. Unless you were tied down and tattooed against your will, or the tattoo artist fainted while tattooing you and tattooed a line across your face, you're a moron.

That flow chart is really funny though.

The only warning I would give some one that's looking to get their first tattoo is this: They can be addictive. There's a good chance after your first one, you'll want more.

I don't have a gamer tattoo (however I should really get one), but I do have a geek tattoo. On my upper left arm I have the Green Lantern Symbol burning in a green flame.

It looks really bright and vivid, but the tattooist (which was a paid in a shop tattooist) screwed up big-time so I had to get it fixed by another guy in the shop (and the former guy was no longer there, go figure). So unfortunately, as bright and vivid as it is, and as cool of an idea as it is, the outer lines are super-thick giving it this entirely too cartoony look.

This I agree with 100%
I have 3(really 4) tattoos and they are addicting. All of them are in places that are well hidden or shown depending on my mood or job. And all of them have meaning.

Tattoo #1 - "3B+1" on my upper left arm above my tricep.
I got this when I graduated college and it represents the crew of friends that I ran around with in high school, college, and still hang out with today.

Tattoo #2 - The "Qi" (Chi) traditional Chinese symbol on my right calf.
I am very energetic and labeled as ADHD and I got this tattoo to prove every teacher that thought I was a bad kid wrong to celebrate my teaching job.

Tattoo #3 - The Superman "S" shield with black instead of yellow on my upper right arm above my tricep.
I got this one to celebrate moving up the ranks of a youth to a high school swim coach. Which was a life long dream of mine. Most kids grow up wanting to be a pro athlete, I wanted to be their coach. The black instead of the yellow was in honor of my grandfathers death...

Tattooo #3.5 or 4 - I have the Batman Bat Symbol surrounding the Superman Symbol. This tattoo may mean the most to me. Before I met my wonderful wife I was engaged... yeah anyway I got this tattoo to celebrate escaping almost certain death by marriage.

Now that I am married and have 2, soon to be three, children I will be getting another one. I plan on getting a 50's style sci-fi rocket on either my forearm or upper shoulder with three planets in the background. The rocket will represent my wife and the unexplored/undefined planets will represent my children.

I guess the purpose of this post is that tattoos will become part of your body, they become part of you. I love my tattoos because they were part of me before the symbols were inked. So if you want a tattoo my advise is find something that you can attach from your life to it and you will never have to worry about anyone else's opinions.

So I guess this means you nailed down a design? Please post a pic once you have it.

Also, don't get wingnut tattoos. From a distance, they look like penises.

That's awesome.

Definitely. Tattoos definitely become apart of you. I only have two right now (which is weird considering I can get free tattoos from my brother - he's an amateur tattoo artist, though I think professionals would call him a "scratcher"). I have the RATM gear logo on my right shoulder, looks like this with out the text underneath (just the gear). I just recently got it redone. I originally got it when I was 17, it was one of the first tattoos my brother did. He got a lot better since then. :D

Then I have Medusa on the inside of my left leg. It was drawn up by my brother so I can't find a pic of it online (and for some reason lost the pics I had of it off my hard drive). Eventually I'm gonna get the rest of the bosses from the first Castlevania game along with Medusa. My brother sketched them up for me, looks awesome. Just waiting for the time to do it. Medusa alone is just a normal tat, but the entire boss cast from the first CV game is for sure a gamer tattoo (staying on topic lol).

I've thought about getting something else circular on my left shoulder to match the other, but nothing concrete yet. Thought about a few things, like maybe the inside shot of a gun barrel from a 007 movie (though the center would have to be closed) or some kind of clock. I've even considered the [ur=http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb2 ... _Logo.pngl]MK dragon[/url] though I don't know about it yet.

But yeah, Rage has been my favorite band for a long time now and I don't see that changing any time soon. I've had good times playing the first Castlevania with, at the time, my best friend, while in high school. The game just reminds me of good times. It's also one of my favorite games. As for the tats I haven't gotten yet: The gun barrel just looks awesome, but I've also been a long time 007 fan. As for the MK dragon, I've played a LOT of MKII with my brother. This would also remind me of good times. I'm still a little undecided, but hey, that's why I haven't gotten them yet!

So yeah, I definitely agree with SpaceBooger. If you get a tat that means something to you, you'll never regret it. The people that get tattoos removed are the people that go into a shop and pick a crummy tat off the wall, or get their girlfriend's name, etc.

Still trying to find an original design. I guess I'll have to play some more games to get an idea of what I want.
