Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but the rules tell me to do so:
5) If someone has already titled a thread with the same problem as you, but everything we've done to help this person does not help you. Do NOT be afraid to post in that thread instead of making a brand new one.
Anyway, before I use my Genesis II adapter on my Game Gear, I wanted to make sure that I have everything right. I noticed that the voltage was never mentioned, and while I think I'm ok and I'm probably just being too paranoid, I'm not even close to being an engineer of sorts, so hopefully an expert can confirm.

The adapter I have says:

AC - DC Adapter
For Genesis II & Game Gear (which is why I think it should be fine)
Model No: MULD4810850
Input: AC 120V 60Hz 17W
Output: DC 10V 850mA (which worries me)

My Game Gear says:

Rating: DC 9V 3W
AC Adaptor: Use 2103 AC Adaptor Only
Game Gear Model 2110

The Game Gear uses the British spelling of adaptor - is this a UK model? Although the adapter says that it's output is 10V, while the Game Gear requires 9V - will this fry it?

3rd party or official? That's an odd model number.

Full size Gen Model 2 official adapters (2103) are fine with a GG. I've never actually put any batteries in any of the GGs I have.

I never thought that it might be a third party adapter, even though it says "Performance™" on it. Here's one I found on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Performance-AC-DC-A ... 0495336116

In fact, that's the exact one I have, model number and all.

Yup, Performance made cheap accessories back in the day. As long as it is in good working order it should be fine.

Ummmm.... that should've been your first clue that it wasn't made my Sega...

FYI, "adaptor" is also the Canadian spelling. It could still be from North America. We do use the same power specs as you guys south of the border. ;)
