No argument from me. I love Duke 3D more than I could ever love Quake. Nothing will ever top the original Doom in my book though.BoringSupreez wrote: Yes, but it didn't become any less fun and well designed.

Doom is paradise with a BFG.

On a slightly but related note there, I hate BFG fest level design in some WAD's.CFFJR wrote:Damn straight.RyaNtheSlayA wrote: No argument from me. I love Duke 3D more than I could ever love Quake. Nothing will ever top the original Doom in my book though.

I'm with you guys on favoring DN3D over Quake big time. I don't know what it was about Quake, it's great and I love the environments and textures, I'd say it's got a cooler atmosphere than Quake 2... but despite it's technical improvements, it just feels like a major stepdown gameplay wise from Doom to me. I dunno, it just simply isn't nearly as fun. And it reminds me a lot of Unreal as well (I'm talking strictly campaigns here), which Quake doesn't even compare to that either.
Re: Duke Nukem Forever release date announced
Agreed that Duke Nukem 3D blows Quake out of the water. Obviously though I have some bias towards good ol' Duke so I'll probably put that game above nearly anything.
Doom is where it's at though. Just can't get better than that.

Yup, only thing I'll give Duke over Doom is the Mighty Boot.
Re: Duke Nukem Forever release date announced
I'll say I liked D3D's single-player game, even without tongue-in-cheek mods like Nene Nukem.brunoafh wrote:Agreed that Duke Nukem 3D blows Quake out of the water. Obviously though I have some bias towards good ol' Duke so I'll probably put that game above nearly anything.
Quake though... you can't beat multi-player Quake with weapon-mods like guided missiles or portal guns (we had those back in the 90s!).
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.

Duke has toppled LA Noire in UK sales. Let's see if he keeps up the pressure!

Re: Duke Nukem Forever release date announced
I pirated this game and loved it
. Can't wait for it to be released in stores so I can buy it. The humor is priceless, and the action sequences really fun.
Just make sure to get it on PC guys, cause the console versions seem to suck.
EDIT
Ok professional game reviewers, FUCK YOU, You SUCK hard. They all review the terrible console ports, instead of what was clearly the lead platform. And they complain about stuff like controls and graphics, which playing on the PC are very different, and much improved compared to the console versions.

While you've got a point the console version's performance is atrocious, if Crysis 2, Heavy Rain, Final Fantasy XIII and Gears Of War can run pretty well while looking amazing, Duke Nukem Forever should run at a stable 30 FPS on HD.ZeroAX wrote:I pirated this game and loved it. I have a sneaking suspicion that DNF was ported to the consoles as an afterthought (as an FPS should be), leading to very disparate performance.KillerJuan77 wrote:While you've got a point the console version's performance is atrocious, if Crysis 2, Heavy Rain, Final Fantasy XIII and Gears Of War can run pretty well while looking amazing, Duke Nukem Forever should run at a stable 30 FPS on HD.ZeroAX wrote:I pirated this game and loved it.
