Duke Nukem Forever dismantled by Eurogamer. 3/10, ouch.

Stephen Totilo's complaint seems to largely be about graphics. I'm thinking I don't really care if the graphics don't look like they were, in his words, "made in 2011". I'm sure that's a bonus, but it doesn't tell me much about the game itself.

The game itself falls back a lot on the character of Duke and the stupid shit that comes out of his mouth, the gameplay is basic shooter stuff, aim, shoot, nothing overtly amazing about it, but what did people expect?
Its great for what it is, no matter if the game was as perfect as Portal 2, people would bitch and complain because after 14 years, it will never reach the high expectations that waiting that long brings.

It may very well be a bad game but the review doesn't look very good either =/

Th Eurogamer review was a well written one I think, seemed very honest. When he was talking about how Duke's dialogue use to be a good point but has only turned into a parody of itself, it really made sense. His jabs and jokes at other games was based around some unique and good back then. Now the game seems to be broken and stale (if we are to believe mostly the Eurogamer review others are kinda poorly written so far). I didn't expect the game to break all the rules and be super amazing awesome but I did expect it to run well and not be a mess of bland levels and unfinished ideas.
I knew it would never live up to the hype, but I didn't expect it to get 3s and 5s.
Still though, I'll try it eventually. I rarely use these reviews as my only basis, especially ones from Kotaku or IGN as they are usually awful and once again they kinda are.

Are you kidding? IGN loves almost everything, especially when it is preceded by a major marketing campaign like DNF has been.KDub wrote:ones from Kotaku or IGN as they are usually awful and once again they kinda are.

right, that's my point. kdub suggested that they always give bad reviews, but I figure this is a fairly rare exception of a heavily marketed game not getting a positive review. Even more warning to stay far, far away.irixith wrote:They didn't love Duke.dsheinem wrote:Are you kidding? No sorry you misunderstood.
I mean they always (atleast 9 times out of 10) have poorly written reviews, not that they rate everything poorly.

So, uh, did anybody review the PC version?

Am I the only one that sees this part as a good thing?Lodestar wrote:hit and run gameplay without a cover system
