i ordered a couple copies of Yu Yu hakusho dark tournament tactics, new and sealed, off ebay a little while back. They have big price stickers on the front i need to take off but thats not the concern. They do not have the H seam on the back, and when I opened one up the inside looks weird. There is NOT the little pull out piece of cardboard ive seen every GBA game come with. Instead it looks kinda like the inserts some N64 games had. WHere theres a stationary bent piece of cardboard on the side that the game slides into and a space to the left of that for the manual and other paperwork. THe game looks brand new and everything looks legit, not like a knock off, but the packaging has me concerned
Did they make some GBA games like this? or is this some knock off? I guess i could try to take a pic if people need to see what i mean
GBA packaging quirk?

Re: GBA packaging quirk?
Here are pics of two GBA games I bought brand new back when they were first released.
Spy Hunter/Super Sprint (bought brand new with the usual seal at Toys 'R' Us)

Legend of Zelda: ALttP-Four Swords (pre-ordered and bought brand new at Gamestop the day it became available.)

I'm assuming these are what you mean by the N64-like packaging and cart cradling. I don't know for sure why they were made like this, as opposed to the cart-and-tray method. I'll look into and see if there are any packaging similarities between the two, as well as other GBA games, but for the moment - I don't think it was ever explained. Maybe Noise or CRT have an idea or heard of something?

Re: GBA packaging quirk?
those are fine. i bought sonic advance 3 the week it came out from a big chain store and the package was like that. they probably just switched it to those to save money or something that looks cheaper than putting that big cardboard insert.
i think rayman anniversary collection has it too but i could be wrong.

ah, yes, thank you. The pics Rurouni_Fencer posted are what i was talking about exactly. I had just never seen one before and was wondering if it was some knock off or re-seal job. I guess thats not the case.
Out of curiosity, not all GBA games came with the H-seam either did they? Ive seen a few without it
