Duke Nukem Forever release date announced

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

This is how I'll be playing it if I ever do.

The only thing I really want of out this game is for it to give me that Duke feel and have some good throw back stuff. I haven't liked pretty much anything I've seen though. I saw a video of someone playing the first level and was very turned off by it.

But I don't really get where this guy is going, I think the whole point of this game will be to put yourself back into the late 90's. I'm sure maybe people won't want that and it's understandable, but yeah.

I'm still trying to find a situation where there ISN'T an appropriate PA comic.

I'd actually like to put myself back into the late 90's, as far as gameplay goes. Old PC FPS games were so much fun, what with secret areas and easter eggs, which a lot of games don't have anymore.

Haha! I remember seeing that Enchanted Arms Penny Arcade comic when the game first came out and everyone was panning it, while I thought it was pretty solid.

The way I see it, anybody who says the game plays like it came straight out of the 90s is delivering good news.

I want it to play like an older game. If Duke played like a modern shooter I'd spit blood. The weapons thing already pisses me off as it is.

I have played a few hours of it and its really enjoyable so far, more so because it is Duke Nukem than anything else, it is not like it is some amazing shooter, but it is constantly bringing up stuff from 3D and it makes you feel all giddy.

I am playing on normal (Lets Rock) and the game starts to get really hard, those damn pig cops can like leap at you.

They do something that annoys me pretty much right away one of the first levels is just going backwards from where you were in the level before it. Backtracking is annoying.

Another thing I have found they do quite often is put you in a room where you just have to hold off until you kill the last enemy, as I said I am not that far into it and have done this 3 times all ready.

Haha, those pig cops were already brutal enough in the original DN3D (up close those shotguns would annihilate you).

Not to dog on the Duke here, but I bet Serious Sam 3 is going to be a good bit better. 8)

Love it. Serious Sam 3 is the first new FPS I've been looking forward to since... Serious Sam 2 I guess.

I agree with emwearz, but would like to add that DN3D was a technical achievement back in the day, so DNF should have stepped up the effort.. At any rate it's amazing that the game even came out, but a full RRP is not recommended for most people.
