Let's see if I can list some of the stuff that I have thrown out without getting thrown off the web site. Mind you that the reason that I got rid of most of this stuff was that it was before I had internet access, nobody that I knew locally wanted it, and I was in a serious time crunch due to moving into a smaller place.

Sega Master System - model 1
A couple of Dreamcasts
RCA Studio II
Some Pong game
A couple SNES units that needed work
Genesis model 3
I am sure that there was other stuff that I forgot about

Later I accidentally threw out an autographed manual for Albert Odyssey for the Saturn.

Non-gaming stuff that hit the bin was about 100 laser discs. Half were PAL and the other half NTSC.

Be nice to me. :-)

^ :(

The only 2 games I've ever tossed were XBOX titles. One was D&D Heroes , and the other was a scratched to hell MechAssault (disc only).

In my defense, the D&D game wasn't enjoyable to me, and I needed to gut it for the case.

I may have tossed out a disc or two over the years that developed a crack, but I usually ended up selling most of them.

Not cool. You should have at least donated it to Salvation Army, or given it away to someone you knew. It's too good a game for the trash can, if it's not broken.

Ahhrrg, I used to do the same thing with my PC games, back in the early 2000's when they came in paper instead of plastic boxes. I had no idea I would ever regret it. At least I kept the manuals.

I've never thrown out a game I knew was working. Once, I had two N64 sports games I couldn't get to boot up, and I pitched them. I didn't know at the time that cleaning the contacts would help. They probably would have worked if I'd tried cleaning, but they were worthless sports games anyhow. I also once pitched a scratched to death, disc-only copy of Medal of Honor: Underground, and a copy of Deadly Dozen that was cracked.

Well, the Large box and soundtrack sat in my room for almost a year, and I hadn't felt a want to play games, so I just decided to throw out the box and cd.

Of course, I now have every SMT game on the ps2, including DDS 1&2, and the only thing I am missing is the large box and soundtrack that I threw out.

Oh yeah, I traded in my black label Xenogears to gamestop years ago too, got like $3 for it.

Broken controllers, yes. Busted games or systems? Never. You beasts.

In fact the worst I can remember doing was tearing off the hanger clips from several Master System and Genesis games when I was about 13 years old.

Usually I would agree, but I find that Silver Surfer becomes a lot more enjoyable with a turbo controller. Still difficult but manageable, and you save your thumbs/fingers as a bonus.

This thread got me thinking. Not specifically about something I threw out long ago, but someone else.

My elementary school had about 100 Commodore 64s all sprawled out the lengths of our hallways. My own personal use was limited, I already had an IBM compatible 386 at home and never really interested myself in those machines or the educational software my school provided. My school was using these things well passed the point that they were relevant, but it was public school and to be expected.

I do recall, however, that my old school was on my route home from high school and distinctly remember the unforgettable sight of 100+ C64s and disk drives and monitors and keyboards and dot matrix printers piled mountain high in the dumpsters (I think this would have been 98-99). I wish I would have rescued at least one but this was before I knew that they were such badass gaming machines. I have not seen a Commodre 64 in the flesh since.
