Last week I sent my DSi XL in to get repaired under warranty for having some stuck pixels in the center of the touch screen. They were rainbow colored and were visible when you played games with a white background such a Virus Buster.
I went online and did the repair submission form. I printed out the label and shipped it off to Nintendo (actually United Radio Services in NY who is a repair center). They shipped it back to me on Tuesday so it was a total of about 7 or 8 days with my DS.
The DSi looked brand-new but it still has the same serial number. They enclosed a piece of paper stating that they did not observe the problem but still replaced some components to ensure my satisfaction. I wonder if they gave me a refurbished console but brought over the old serial number? The box also had my 2GB SD card in a plastic baggie taped. Oops, I thought I had removed everything but forgot about about the SD card.
There was another baggie that had a big sticker that said "Unauthorized, Unlicensed" with some fine print. WTF? Huh? I didn't open my DS or anything. I took a closer look and saw my screen protectors in there. Not sure why they would think my screen protectors were unauthorized because they were made by Hori and bought from Amazon.com. I have an unopened package which has the Nintendo seal on the front.
All in all, it was a good experience and now I'm back to using my DSi XL without any stuck pixels.

Re: Your experience with Nintendo Repair Service?
I've had Nintendo repair my Wii, GCN, and NES. All the experiences were stellar. To my knowledge they do not give you a refurbished unit. They usually replace the shell of the console to make it look brand new. Now I don't know how many parts of a console you can replace and it remain the same console, but I wouldn't definitely say Nintendo treads the line with that. They always seem to go above and beyond whatever you state is wrong with the device to ensure it looks brand new. The only problem is they don't support their older consoles anymore. It was awesome getting my NES repaired in the early 2000s. It still looks brand new.

I hated it, I sent my Gamecube in a little shy of a year from when I got it (2003/2004) for a blown power cord, they sent me a purple Gamecube not my black one back. Guess what, the purple Gamecube would not work cause the power cord was bad. They told me not to send it in, so I figured it out my self and bought a new power cord. The purple unit they sent me had this problem also, http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 17&t=22803 , damn latch. So they did not fix my problem and sent me an ugly purple cube with a latch problem.
This really pissed me off!

Re: Your experience with Nintendo Repair Service?
I sent my Wii in to get fixed about a year ago, as it basically stopped reading dual layer discs and gamecube discs altogether. It took 2 and a half weeks, which wasnt bad, as they did say 2-3 weeks, and they did it for free (which they do for all the dual layer reading problems afaik). They also gave me a new gamecube controller cover and memory card slot cover, because mine had long since broken off. Pretty cool of them, even if it was only a small thing.

When they told you not to send back the purple one, you should've said something to the effect of "fine, I'll go get a ps2 then."bryan_65 wrote:I hated it, I sent my Gamecube in a little shy of a year from when I got it (2003/2004) for a blown power cord, they sent me a purple Gamecube not my black one back. That's unfortunate that they did not give you the same color back. It's kind of surprising because that was right during Gamecube prime. It's not as if you are doing the repair 4 years after they retired the console.
I did get the same color back (Bronze). I forgot to mention that they took the liberty of upgrading my firmware from 1.4.1 to 1.4.2. Thanks!
I have the Sudoku game on it and never got around to doing the Sudokuhaxx. Oh well.
I did pick up a 2000 pts card from a forum member for $15 so I have to figure out how to spend 2500 pts (I have 500 left over from before). I do like the concept of DSiware and have it all on my system without carrying around multiple cards.

Might I recommend the most expensive games on the service?gtmtnbiker wrote:I did pick up a 2000 pts card from a forum member for $15 so I have to figure out how to spend 2500 pts (I have 500 left over from before). Cave Story and Shantae: Risky's Revenge are well worth a purchase, even at the steep 1,000pt price. Dark Void Zero is excellent, as is Alphabounce.

As for my experience with the repair service, it's always been excellent, no complaints.

I already have Shantae, Dark Void Zero, Mighty Flip Champs, Mario - March of the Minis, Sudoku, Art Style - Box Life off the top of my head. There are a few other ones that I cannot think of the moment.irixith wrote: Might I recommend the most expensive games on the service?

Is Cave Story that good? I played the demo on the PC and wasn't that impressed with it.
I'll check out Alphabounce.
I'm also thinking of the other Wayforward game: Mighty Milky Way.

Re: Your experience with Nintendo Repair Service?
Get all of the Art Style games except maybe Nemrem/Zengage (depending on region) - they're all great. Also try X-Scape/3D Space Tank - it's a great sequel to the Japan Game Boy game 'X'. It's also one of the longer games on the service.
Re: Your experience with Nintendo Repair Service?
My Wii had a game stuck in it shortly after launch. Even though I was within my 1 year warranty, they still charged me $125 to get the game out.
Yeah, not exactly planning to use their service again.
