What was the last movie you've seen?

Its more of a John Carpenter tribute than just B-Movie's in general tribute.
Carpenter? How specifically?

Yeah, I don't get this either. I have seen a bunch of Carpenter films (just watched Prince of Darkness yesterday), but don't see that in Planet Terror.

I've seen the majority of Carpenter's work. Most numerous times. But don't remember catching any references/tributes in Planet Terror. Granted I watched PT when it was first released on DVD. It's been a while. But yeah.

PS, Prince Of Darkness is really good.

Well its been awhile since I've seen Plant Terror so I will have to pull out the DVD and re-watch with commentary to make sure I wasn't talking out of my ass but on the commentary I swear he (Rodriguez) states that he was paying homage to 80's instead of 70's style of films and that it more of a Carpenter film. Obviously though the score really is reminiscent of Carpenters own score's.

PS: I have been going through a couple scenes looking for the commentary piece and came across the scene with Bruce Willis saying he killed Bin Laden.

it's certainly more a tribute to 80's than 70's cinema. That's no question.

Actually, it's meant to be a tribute to exploitation films, films like Zombi 2, Cannibal Holocaust, I Spit On Your Grave, Ms. 45, The Toxic Avenger, Buio Omega, Sledgehammer, Pieces, etc.

Anyways, I just saw Alice Sweet Alice, a fantastic movie, it's like the 5th. time I've watched it.

The Pickup Artist. Meh.

Party Monster. Still one of my faves, for many reasons. Culkin's performance as Michael Alig, who starts off like some unlikable little brat and slowly devolves into demented sociopath. Another is, like Boogie Nights, it reaches a point where it pretty much does a flawless 180 from quirky and gonzo to bleak and depressing.
