So who here played the demo? I played it... and it does not live up to the hype IMO. It's not bad, it's pretty good but I think I'm going to cancel my pre-order because I don't think it's good enough for the money I'd be paying.

Could be because it's just a demo. I need to download that sucker anyway tonight.darthmunky wrote:So who here played the demo? I played it... and it does not live up to the hype IMO. Admittedly darthmunky's also an enormous Halo fan but doesn't feel as strongly to most other FPS, so it could just be that too.Luke wrote:Could be because it's just a demo. I'd say try it and form your own opinion.

Well I actually hate Halo 2 and 3. I basically just love the first one. Reach was good too. I also love Bioshock but other than those, I feel that most fps games are average. Again though, Duke isn't bad, it's just not as good as it should be. And yes, I'm switching my pre-order to Halo Anniversary and I'll get Duke when it's cheap.Ack wrote:Admittedly darthmunky's also an enormous Halo fan but doesn't feel as strongly to most other FPS, so it could just be that too.Luke wrote:Could be because it's just a demo. Another good moment for me to ramble on about how the guns in Halo 3 sound like toys...darthmunky wrote:Well I actually hate Halo 2 and 3. I basically just love the first one.
I'm sure 20 years from now I will still be rambling on about that one...
Also never understood how no review ever tackeled that subject...

But have you compared them to Doom 3?elmagicochrisg wrote:Another good moment for me to ramble on about how the guns in Halo 3 sound like toys...darthmunky wrote:Well I actually hate Halo 2 and 3. I basically just love the first one.![]()

That's what I mean though, you're an enormous fan of the original Halo, but most FPS you feel lukewarm towards. So I was saying to Luke to go ahead and try the demo, because he may well end up forming a vastly different opinion.darthmunky wrote: Well I actually hate Halo 2 and 3. Eh, actually, I never had any problems with the gun audio in Doom 3. A quick google search shows me a lot of people were bothered with it. Strange, I actually quite enjoyed Doom 3 on Xbox...Ack wrote:But have you compared them to Doom 3?elmagicochrisg wrote:Another good moment for me to ramble on about how the guns in Halo 3 sound like toys...darthmunky wrote:Well I actually hate Halo 2 and 3. Just watched a few clips on Youtube and I must agree they are not too loud. Still, they don't sound too bad to me. I actually like all the audio in Doom 3. Very atmospheric and immersive. So I never really noticed the guns not being very loud with all the metal sounds and the thumping and hissing and other shit going on...
Oh well...

Reviews are pouring in now I guess, Joystiq didn't really dig it:

But I don't really get where this guy is going, I think the whole point of this game will be to put yourself back into the late 90's. I'm sure maybe people won't want that and it's understandable, but yeah.
I still hope to have some fun with it, if anything some of my friends and I were planning to just play this game drunk sometime anyways. Perhaps that'll make it an incredible adventure... or not.
