Well, that and not really talking about the console either. I heard a lot about the controller, but nothing about what's under the hood of the machine, what it does to fix their horrible online system, what format discs will be, etc.
At the end they mentioned a different "open" (or something like that) online system.

Iwata said it is a console. He said something along the lines of "It is not a portable gaming system. Information is transmitted from the console to the controller."
So the "controller" probably costs $200-300 to make, as does a console to play PS3/360 level games. Since they don't sell hardware for a loss, are we looking at a launch price of $500+? I can't see Nintendo doing that, which further confuses me about whether this is a console, an add on for a Will, or just simply a controller. We need to know more about the box next to the TV...

The real question is, how can we hack the new controller and turn it into an tablet pc like device. I am going to assume it uses Bluetooth like wiimotes.

Well, Nintendo definitely wins the 'most confusing reveal' award of E3. The WiiU is an interesting concept but Geoff Keighley is right - you can do a lot of the same things with a PS3/PSVita combo.

The other announcements were probably exciting if you are a huge Nintendo fan or around 3-11 in the late 90s when the N64 came out.

I'm cautiously optimistic. Nintendo needs to get over the fact that they are Nintendo and shake more hands with other developers. They had a decent showing of 3rd party support, but nothing that would get me to lay down money... yet.

Ugh *shiver*

I just need to go clear my head and get over that initial feeling when Nintendo revealed the WiiU - the one where you won a car in a mall drawing only to find out it's really just a time share scam.

Well, another thing...can it use more than one of those controllers? They only showed one in their demos, with additional players using Wii controllers, right?

I would imagine Nintendo didn't want to provide TOO much information on the new system given that it's not going to retail until near or in the 2nd half of 2012. If they gave all the specs up front, it'd give MS and SONY a year to push out a competitive product. Given that Microsoft is banking so much on Kinect, it makes sense that Nintendo says, "Motion control? Did it... onto pave the way for you schmo's. See you next year."

If anything, I thought there were too many remakes/sequels. New Star Fox, new Luigi's Mansion, new Super Mario Bros, new Kid Icarus, new Tekken, new Darksiders, new Ghost Recon, new Assassin's Creed, new DiRT, new Ninja Gaiden... they were just missing on new IP.
Welcome to modern gaming.

I dunno where this is from, but it seems legit. No hardware specs, but it's a few details at least.

'cept that you can already do -some- of what they showed with a PSP and PS3 (remote play, access media, etc), nevermind what Sony can probably build for the PS3/Vita (it'd cost a -ton- but they could do it).

Third party devs love it when Ninty chooses propriety media.
