Nintendo 64 sound issues
I just recently plugged my Nintendo 64 into my HDTV for the first time, and noticed some crackling in the sound at certain times. I switched the cord and got the same thing, so I siwtched the console for another one and got the same thing...anyone know what the heck is up with this? My tv is a Vizio, and none of the other consoles I hook up to the AV port do this, just the n64. I have tried my Dreamcast, ps2, and Wii and none of them have issues.

That is pretty weird. Have you tried using a different input on the TV?

PBR, it could be two bad cords? If they were wrapped too tightly, both of them may have been damaged internally causing the crackling.

Re: Nintendo 64 sound issues
I tried my other AV input and it was the same. I've now tried 3 cords that all worked when i put them away and were not wrapped too tightly, so i don't think thats the case. It does it most often when there is a lot of explosions (battletanx), but it doesnt do it as much with games like Mario party 3 where there arent many really loud, explosion type noises.

Might be a problem with your specific TV.

Re: Nintendo 64 sound issues
Does your TV have any other problems with sound? Also, have you cleaned your N64's cartridge slot, or any of your games lately? It might seem simple but every bit of information has to pass through that, so maybe try a simple cleaning.

Re: Nintendo 64 sound issues
I have cleaned the games, the slot, and used all three of my n64s, same problem. used the cord on two SNES consoles, no problem. I havnt tried hooking up RF, but i dont really want to...I'm thinking its a TV specific problem for some odd reason. I'm going to go get my old TV and see if it works on there, I can deal with playing on that, i Just am running out of room for electronics in my apartment....lol

all 3 systems work like a dream on older TV's. Must be something to do with the specific tv I have...gonna try to track down an RF hookup and see if that works.
