Too bad Chinatown takes the title for Jack Nicholson's best performance.dsheinem wrote:Yeah, this is a great film and one of my all time favorites. It is also arguably Nicholson's best performance, which is saying something given his career.Haoie wrote:One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Best movie I've seen about mental illness and 1 of the best from the 70s period.
What was the last movie you've seen?

I saw that eons ago but don't remember it...seems like another excuse to watch it soonOldSchool_Boy wrote:Too bad Chinatown takes the title for Jack Nicholson's best performance.dsheinem wrote:Yeah, this is a great film and one of my all time favorites. And, actually, looking at Nicholson's credits there are a fair number of films - including those he's been nominated or won for - that I haven't seen (e.g. Terms of Endearment and Prizzi's Honor). Looks like I have some catching up to do with Jack.

Well, truthfully you're not missing much in The Terror, despite that it starred a young Jack Nicholson and an old Boris Karloff. Every transfer I've seen of it has been pretty bad, with some badly muffled audio. Of course, what else do you expect from a Roger Corman film?dsheinem wrote:And, actually, looking at Nicholson's credits there are a fair number of films - including those he's been nominated or won for - that I haven't seen (e.g. Terms of Endearment and Prizzi's Honor). Are you serious? You didn't know that Harry Potter was based on a book series? An insanely popular book series that even had lots of news coverage and whatnot?dsheinem wrote:are they based on books?Michi wrote:It really helps that those movies had good source material to begin with.Gamerforlife wrote:It seems only Harry Potter has handled going over three movies well from what people tell me. I'd like to see the same happen here. I am always skeptical of the quality of anything that goes over three installments, that includes video games. I'm not saying it can't be done though

I own The Terror on at least two horror film collections. I agree that isn't even close to Nicholson or Karloff's best work.Ack wrote:Well, truthfully you're not missing much in The Terror, despite that it starred a young Jack Nicholson and an old Boris Karloff. Nope. Not a clue. Were they popular in the US or just the UK? I thought they were based on the Harry Potter video games.AppleQueso wrote: Are you serious? You didn't know that Harry Potter was based on a book series? An insanely popular book series that even had lots of news coverage and whatnot?

Ha, you might own the same collections I do then! But at the time it was made, Karloff was an old hasbeen and Nicholson was just getting started, so I suppose we should consider it for what it is.dsheinem wrote:I own The Terror on at least two horror film collections. Speaking of which, I watched Anger Management last night. It surprised me how many comedians popped up in that one.
