No, it isn't. Just buy whichever one you personally prefer, it makes no difference.

Honestly isn't OoT kind of the same case as well? Thought I remember always hearing it was easier to find gold carts than gray ones for that one. Although then there's the specific versions of course, with the older ones being more exploitable via Gameshark and whatnot I believe (pretty sure mine is v1.0).

No, the gold OoT is easy to find, but the gray version is easier. Only preorders were gold, if I remember correctly, while all the rest were gray. It's Majora's Mask that has the gold cartridge in larger quantities than the gray one.

Maybe its more common in different regions. I've found dozens of grey ones but I've yet to see a gold OoT in person. I was considering buying one to have it, maybe think about it a bit more now if its so common.. :?
