I love my SNS-101. I tend to like smaller redesigns. It's much cuter than the original SNES. ^_^ The lack of an LED doesn't bother me at all. Neither does S-Video because my LCD TV doesn't support it. Component would be nice though..
My B/S/T thread! :)

Yeah, I liked my SNES mini. Unfortunately, I broke it. I use to say that I accidentally dumped water on it, which IS true, but that's not what actually broke it. I'm embarrassed to admit that while I was probing it with a multimeter I accidentally trailed the probe over two contacts and saw sparks (it was plugged in) and now it don't work. Worst part is that was so long ago now, I don't even remember what fried on the board, so if I even wanted to fix it, it would just be a headache trying to figure out what component is dead. :x Maybe one day.

I grew up with the SNES mini so I tend to prefer it over the original SNES (but not the Super Famicom). Once you mod it with S-video and RGB and cut the cartridge slot tabs, it becomes quite the little beast.

Well, I just got a new SNES mini off eBay. Wasn't a bad deal, but probably because the system is horribly yellowed. I consider it a rescue. Total impulse buy thanks to this thread.

You think it might be? I mean, if it turns out to be, I'm sure I could easily get my money back through eBay.

edit: Well after looking into it, it'll be easy to tell if it's fake. There's other things to check, but all you really have to do is check to see if it has the security "gamebit" screws or not. There's a few things I read to check, but one is the color of the power and reset button. Fakes are slightly darker in color. It's hard to tell over the Internet, but the buttons on mine look good. Time will tell.

I'm not saying you have a counterfeit. I just thought I'd point that out.

Does it matter that much? It was an impulse buy, after all.

edit: I see you read the reference in the wiki article.

Lol, yeah, doesn't matter. I made out good either way, and I think I'll keep it even if it is a fake. I could use the pin connector in it to replace one that's worn in another console I have. And it did come with all the hookups, 2 controllers, and four games (two of which I don't own). So either way, I'm making out good.

That's wild though. I kinda remember reading about that but completely forgot about it. Thanks for pointing that out.

I didn't think the SNES 2's were susceptible to yellowing. Isn't that specifically relegated to only some of the early SNESes?

Meh, I'm sure if you leave it in direct sun long enough it'll happen.
