Per-app UAC?

Post by Pulsar_t »

I find it annoying that every time one of my favourite applications tries to change something a warning should pop up, or even worse the action is denied and I have to re-launch the exe with admin privileges. Is there a way I can set UAC to ignore certain apps? Using Compatibility under each EXE's properties is useless, and turning UAC off altogether sounds drastic as some apps try to change system settings without proper authorisation. Thanks for any pointers!

You should contact the company that makes the application and report the issue to them.

I don't know of any way to do per-app UAC

If you must use UAC, try toning the slider down one notch and see if that helps.

In the program shortcut or .exe right click, properties, compatibility tab. Enable 'Run this program as an administrator'. It will prompt you to confirm UAC when you load the app and then never prompt you again.

Doesn't work, I also notched UAC down to just above "Never Notify", again to no avail. Looks like I'll turn it off altogether, and let the AV do its work.

I've set work stuff in the compat tab under Vista and W7 both and it still asks every time.
