That's what I use him for. The other 99.9999999% of the time, I use Trevor.MidnightRider wrote:Well, at the very least he can be used for shortcuts.GSZX1337 wrote: I have Alucard as my ally.

I use Grant, which is even better in the Famicom version. He's great for shortcuts, and is even a decent fighter. Alucard is great for the last level though. After you go down that vertical scroll, that next screen is a bitch. Turn into a bat and fly to the door, easiest way to get past it. I still have no clue why the NES version starts you all the way back in the other room when you die against Dracula. Having Alucard makes it a little easier to get back.
Pretty funny, when I first bought CV3 at Funco Land, I wasn't lucky enough to get a box and/or manual with it, and this was pre-look everything up on the internet days, so I had NO idea that you could turn into the partner character. When on of the three would join me, I noticed their face in the corner, but I had no idea what it meant.
I wish you could hop on the Japanese Wii Store and purchase Akumajou Densetsu (Castlevania 3) on your USA Wii. I own it for Famicom, but I would love to have it on my Wii as well (which is in another room). But also for all the people that don't have a Famicom. It's hard playing the NES version after experiencing the Famicom version.
edit: About Alucard being worthless besides shortcuts... I saw a video of some one using him to beat Dracula's third form. I like to use Trevor, but you can hit Drac more often because Alucard's beams (whatever they're suppose to be) is shot on angles.

Anyone with an axe is just easier against Drac's final form.
Re: When you hear "Castlevania...
I find that if I use Trevor with the cross and just concentrate, it's not too hard at all. I just suck against the first form.

Re: When you hear "Castlevania...
You just have to take your time with his first form. Whip him in the head once, or if you did go with the cross, be at just the right distance when you throw it that it hits him twice, either way, only try to hit him that one time, which should give you enough time to move out of the way of his fire pillars when they start to form.

I know that the cross worked wonders on Dracula's first form in Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth.MidnightRider wrote:You just have to take your time with his first form. I figure noiseredux would be the guy to ask about this, but has anyone tried the original Gameboy titles? IIRC, one of them was garbage and the other is really good.

Castlevania: The Adventure - Complete and utter garbage. Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth is a spiritual remake of it. The music in the Gameboy version is different than the Wii title, but is pretty much the only redeeming quality behind this title.
Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge - This is more like it! This is the Castlevania on a handheld system fans wanted in the late 80's! You start off choosing between which four initial castles to take on first, ala Mega Man and unlike Castlevania Adventure, you can carry a sub-weapon just as in the NES games! Also, this is often-times voted as the game with the best soundtrack on Gameboy...
Castlevania Legends - A step backwards from Belmont's Revenge, but not as bad as The Adventure. The control was wonky and the difficulty was not consistent with the previous handheld entries. At the time, Legends was to tell the story of Sonia Belmont, the first Belmont to destroy Dracula and begin the Belmont legacy. Riding high off of the success of Symphony of the Night, Alucard also makes an appearance. 10 years later, Igarashi decided to retcon the storyline, so this title is nothing more than a highly-sought after collectable game. (Complete copies can fetch between $100-$200, due to the fact that it was one of the last original Gameboy games to be released before the Color took over!)
Re: When you hear "Castlevania...
I have Adventure, and yeah, it's pretty lame. I tried the second two with emulation for a bit, but never gave them much of a chance. I'm not much for handhelds (sorry, noise!)
Re: When you hear "Castlevania...
I hear what you're saying, but Belmont's Revenge is a legit Castlevania game. You should give it another go sometime if you're in the mood for some Casltevania but want to see something new.Ziggy587 wrote:I have Adventure, and yeah, it's pretty lame.
