Help Me Identify These Saturn Ram Carts/Memory Carts

Post by molotovwars »

I bought a Saturn recently in Korea and the seller tossed in a bunch of Japanese RPGs and these 5 ram carts. I don't know anything about the Saturn. I know cartridges are used for ram expansion for certain game and maybe you can also use them for importing or as memory cards.

I have taken pictures to show the five carts I received. One or two of the carts has small notes written in Korean so I've translated that in the comments for the picture:

Thanks

Oh, and what do these carts normally go for? Anyone need some?

-First one looks like an official gray memory card with some kind of anime sticker on it.
-Second one looks like a third party card, but not sure what it is. I don't think Sega made any cards in that clear blue color.
-Third one is a third party ram card. Not sure if it's 1M or 4M.
-Fourth one is an official 1M ram card.
-Fifth one is an older style Action Replay card.

Memory cards save your game progress.

RAM cards are like the N64 Expansion Paks. They are required for certain games to work and are optional enhancement in a few other games.

Action Replay cards usually combine the functions of a few cards into one. The one I have works as a 1M RAM card, 4M RAM card, memory card, region-unlocker, and Action Replay cheat codes.

None of them are particularly valuable. You can buy a brand new Action Replay (the newest version) for $25-30.

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes, it is 1MB. I have the exact same one in my collection from a modded JP Saturn lot I got from HK in fall 2000 (11 years ago almost... Have I been importing JP Saturns for over a decade now? Wow...).
4. Yes
5. Yes. This will work as a memory card, 1MB expansion, 4MB expansion and cheat device. I am not sure if it would enable imports in this older version.

Can you sell these on eBay? I don't really see many of these kind of carts up right now. I was thinking of just selling them as a lot of 5 with a starting bid of $14.99. Would I have any problem selling at that price?

Might be worth tossing them up for trade or sale here but I guess if you want to see if you want to go for more then eBay would be a good bet.

I actually don't care about the price that I sell these for, but primarily I want them gone. I have sure a huge amount of games at my office that it is starting to get a bit unprofessional haha. The problem with selling things on racketboy is that they'll often sit around for a few weeks whereas with eBay I know they'll be sold 7 days later.

The two memory cards are both flash memory. I don't have a screw driver, but apparently the previous owner had opened the grey cart so I was able to manage it. And with the blue one its clear so I just looked through the bottom of it. I don't know if I'd be able to check about a certain solder point. Do you have a picture I can compare the PCB to if I am able to open it?
