It's a pretty niche game, but Super Robot Taisen 2 (Dai-2-Ji Super Robot Taisen) is a decent SRPG for the Famicom.

edit: Metal Max slipped my mind, a very unique 8-bit era RPG for the Famicom.

Bringing this thread back up because I'm looking to

A.) Create one of my Ideal Collection Blog articles focusing on Famicom/Famicom Disk System games

B.) Get some fun import usage out of my NES top-loader

C.) Eventually like to get a Famicom w/Disk System and some disk system games

After a bit of research I'm looking at aiming to eventually collect the following games:

Famicom

Akumajou Special (a.k.a. Kid Dracula)
Cosmic Epsilon
Crisis Force
Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei
Doraemon
Dragon Scroll Yomigaerishi Maryuu
Famicom Jump
Famicom Wars
Final Fantasy II
Final Fantasy III
Ganbare Goemon!
Getsu Fuuma Den (This game looks freaking awesome)
Ginga no Sannin
Holy Diver (This game also looks freaking awesome)
Joy Mecha Fight
Kyatto Ninden Teyandee (a.k.a. Samurai Pizza Cats)
Makai Island
Metal Max
Mother (Earthbound Zero)
Parodius Da!
Portopia Renzoku Satsujin Jiken
Splatterhouse Wanpaku Graffiti
Super Robot Taisen
Sweet Home
Tetra Star: The Fighter
Tokaido Gojusan-tsugi
Yokai Dochuki
Wai Wai World

Disk System

Ai Senshi Nicol
Esper Dreams
Naze no Murasamejou
Otocky

So, to anyone who collects for the Famicom: are there any other exclusives you highly recommend? I do not care about the language barrier.

Are you familiar with the Famicom Datch System? You should check it out if not. It would make for another interesting thing to write about for your article. It only has 7 games, Yu Yu Hakusho, DBZ, and Battle Rush are the best ones.

First I've heard of it but I'll definitely check it out and write about it (especially considering I've always loved Yu Yu Hakusho and I grew up watching DB/DBZ)

I love Yu Yu Hakusho as well. Have you played many of the games? There's a boatload of them, and many of them are of surprisingly good quality. I've played every single one of them so I can suggest some if you haven't dabbled with them much.

I played the Japanese Mega Drive tournament fighter game via an emulator a long while ago and really enjoyed it, and I've played the PS2 fighter but that's all I've played so far, so suggest away!

I could go on and on about them, but, I suggest you Google/YouTube some of these ones:

Yu Yu Hakusho Tokubetsuhen (SFC strategy fighter)
Yu Yu Hakusho Final (SFC tournament fighter)
Yu Yu Hakusho Tournament Tactics (GBA SPRG)
Yu Yu Hakusho Forever (PS2 tournament fighter)
Yu Yu Hakusho Ankoku Bujutsu Kai 120% (PS2 tournament fighter)

I'm assuming you played Dark Tournament for PS2? If I remember, that game was pretty bad. The other PS2 games are unrelated, they're made by Dimps and are way better in every way.

Crisis Force if you like Shmups. Possibly Cosmic Epsilon or Tetrastar the Fighter if you like Space Harrier like games.

Yeah, I played Dark Tournament and thought it was mediocre but still had fun with it. I'm looking into the others and really liking what I'm seeing. I wrote down both the Super Famicom games immediately into my big notebook of "games I need to get at some point."

Thanks! Adding all three to my list. Space Harrier is one of my all-time favorite games so Cosmic Epsilon and Terra Star look really appealing, and Crisis Force looks like a solid shmup.

Updated my list, but I'm still looking for more suggestions. Any more Famicom exclusives you guys really like? I would be most interested in hearing about Horror/Dark games, and RPGs or action RPGs at this point.
