Not to mention it's the reason 90% of the cars I want are wrecked, rattle-can primered, dented/rusted all over, or modified to hell and back........

Eeeewwwwww FF movies make me want to barf so much. The first one wasn't completely bad, it actually had a pretty decent overall layout with good pacing. But, the sequels and sheer amount of people it spawned who think they're "street racers" or "tuners" make me rageface so much on a daily basis.

That is if you can even find one, there are only two I know of in my town. One belongs to the most stereotypical of ricers who neglects the shit out of it and is covered in rust holes & body damage while it always sputters at lights; the other one is a very nice car that that has been well taken care of and is in good hands with a competent owner who will give it the love it deserves.Rurouni_Fencer wrote:Toyota AE86 will out-perform any car in the 2011 marketplace
A buddy of mine once said that Japanese cars are the Camaros and Mustangs of our generation, and he's right in saying so if you ask any child of the 80's or 90's. The only problem is how badly almost all of these were mangled and neglected in such a short amount of time by careless owners.

Still have yet to try a Wankel, myself... Every Mazda owner I know of has sworn off anything not rotary and there just HAS to be a reason why..jeffro11 wrote:Indeed! Driving them is an amazing feeling you'll get nowhere else! Thats for damn sure.
Unlike hemi's, which are basically "blast-processing' for your Americana...

I could not enjoy it at all. Not because it was bad (An OK, average action movie), but the fact that it takes place BEFORE Tokyo Drift (The 3rd installment of the movie). Tokyo Drift came out in 2006, so Fast Five shouldn't contain any cars made after 2006, yet it was full of newer models. I didn't see a Flux Capacitor in any of the newer cars.
And before the question is posed, "then, why weren't there any newer, more modern car models being raced in Tokyo Drift?", I'll just say this - if you're concerned with the art of drift racing, you're not going to opt for any of the cars found in our current market. An old-school RB26DETT S15 or a Toyota AE86 will out-perform any car in the 2011 marketplace, save maybe for the GTR.
There are a few drift-worthy RWD cars for 2011, most come from Europe and the United States. Team Falken seems to take advantage of them.
Anyway, they didn't say what year the movie took place nor did they say they drove the newest cars, but there were a couple of things that kinda state when the movie takes place. For example, Bow Wow's character tried to sell Lucas Black's character some new Michael Jordan shoes that "weren't even out yet", but those the 21s came out in 2006. Also, there are a couple of things in the background in Shibuya that are no longer there today.
On a side note, if you decide to get a rotary you better have a lot of extra oil cans and apex seals!

La moustache. A very phildickian movie by one of the biggest fans of PKD, Emmanuel Carrère.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I just watched Fast Five and thought it was AWESOME. Its a bro version of Oceans 11. The only thing that will make Fast Six better is if Jason Statham is in it. The entire time I was hoping for the Rock or Vin to flip a car and just go crazy. Its tied with the first as the best of the series.
Fast and the Furious movies are not about good flimmaking, they are about turning off your mind and having a good time. Its just like Commando, Death Wish 3, or most any Michael Bay film. Though I do love that Justin Lin used more actual special effects over digital. And ofcourse I am partial to Fast Five since alot of it was shot in my town - I drove under the same bridge that the part with the dumptruck takes place yesterday.

Not so fast, fast billy, on fast five.fastbilly1 wrote: Fast and the Furious movies are not about good flimmaking, they are about turning off your mind and having a good time. Its just like Commando, Death Wish 3, or most any Michael Bay film.
I agree totally with everything you say except Commando should not be in the discussion, as people will still be watching Commando in five years.
Not trying to bait, just letting off some steam.
