FMV Fluttering on PC
FMV Fluttering on PC
On my PC, a lot of times during FMV sequences or cut-scenes, the pictures flutters a little. It's not bad but was wondering if there was a way I could correct it with my video card settings. I have a geforce 9800 gt so maybe I need a new card or something. I don't think it's the card because I can run WoW or Rift in Ultra mode with no problems at all during gameplay, it's only cut-scenes when this seems to happen. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit edition on an AMD Phenom II X4 820 with 8gb ram if that helps. The monitor is an HP 2009m. This doesn't happen just on newer games either. Had the same thing during the intro sequence of The Witcher too. Can anyone tell me whether I need to change the settings and if so which ones, or am I in need of a new graphics card.

You might have semi-broken codecs.

Meaning..? One thing I've noticed is that it only does it during scenes with lots of action.

Try downloading the latest drivers direct from nVidia. NOT from Windows update though.
Re: FMV Fluttering on PC
Already did that, downloaded new drivers from nvidia, didn't do anything. I'm thinking maybe it's the monitor. What happens is during fast action scenes there's a thin section that stretches across the screen that looks off color or stutters or something. It's hard to describe exactly. Is there an optimal way to have my nvidia settings? I haven't changed them since installing the card.Ziggy587 wrote:Try downloading the latest drivers direct from nVidia. I wonder how the game will perform with XP.

Re: FMV Fluttering on PC
Problem fixed. I uninstalled the card and reinstalled it, making sure to use updated drivers. Then went through my settings and set each one for quality instead performance. I also turned on vertical sync and triple buffering, which were set to off. Then I upped Max pre-rendered frames to 8 and antialiasing to 16xQ.
After doing these things I ran a couple of games and never once through any of the intro scenes did I experience so much as a hiccup. I'm not sure what all these settings do lol, but on nvidia's website they were listed on their optimal settings for my card. Can anyone smarter about this verify that these settings are ok to run on? I don't want to experience massive slowdown during a game when the on-screen action kicks up.

Re: FMV Fluttering on PC
It was probably more a broken file that wasn't being replace before. Most of those settings only apply to 3D rendering so they won't matter for video playback. But 3D performance depends many factors of your hardware and the game itself as far as your question about performance otherwise.Wombatula wrote:Problem fixed.
