I just noticed I did not suggest Jackie Chan's Adventures (GBA) in this thread.

You don't improve your stats, but as you progress in the game you get more special moves.
Despite being licensed (based on the Cartoon), it is actually quite a nice Beat em up!

Legend of Legaia's battle system lets you input fighting moves for attacks.

I appreciate the recommendation. Signed up, tried it out, and fell in love. An MMO that I can actually like?!

Glad you like it. I'd offer you to join my guild but we only accept witches. If you wanna contact me in game for anything, my current character is Midori78.

I only played for a day, but started on a gunslinger.

Dungeon Fighter is pretty good, but I think it's extremely over-rated. I also have a problem with MMOs and micro-transaction games in general, though.

I think Guardian Heroes, SoRR and Battle Circuit are way funner, and better beat em ups. I even enjoyed classics like Golden Axe III and Tenchi wo Kurau II more than DFO. It still think it's a cool game, just way over-rated by obsessive players.

The micro transactions in DFO have been pissing me off. I also really hate how there is so much you need to do in PVE but the game has all sorts of restrictions on how much you can accomplish in one day. I've been playing every day trying to get PVE done so I can put up a fight in PVP mode, but I can't seem to ever do that. They release PVE content much faster than the game lets me do it.

Honestly, I really want to quit because I am just tired of this game now. I wish Phantasy Star Online 2 came out today because I would switch to it in a heartbeat. I also miss playing my games in Japanese. The biggest problem with online games in English is that people who speak English are stupid and rude, compared to the Japanese. They also spam the town with all sorts of bullshit nonstop. I really need to return to a Japanese environment that is filled with polite and smart people.

Of course this is all speaking in general. Thankfully I have a handful of close friends on DFO who are nice, smart and well behaved. But it really is like night and day when you compare to the Japanese.

When I played, it was only with IRL friends/friends of IRL friends. What bugs me more is some people's customization- massive words and flames over their heads that look like they belong on Gaia avatars.

I have a friend that's more or less addicted to DFO (I think I've mentioned this with your notice before), and he's spent pointless hundreds on meaningless digital micro transactions. The point of this type of game is to addict you and pull money out of you, which is sad, because this game in particular is actually quite fun and well developed.

I too wish PSO2 would come out, that would be fucking awesome. I also echo your thoughts on playing with Japanese players. Not to make a mass generalization, but, it's strangely different and much less irritating.

It is amazing. Definitely my favorite CPS-2 game that never came to America or consoles - which is a shame, because I really want to own the board for it, but I have to get the Japanese version. I've never seen the European version pop up anywhere.

Hell, I'd say it's my favorite Capcom beat 'em up. Bold claim, but I stand behind it.
