I just got a Sega CD Model 1. I have no experience with this console, but the disc tray keeps ejecting. I searched the forum and found this thread, but I'm still a little confused on what to do.
The weird part is when I powered the console up for the first time, it worked fine. It made a strange noise though, and I figured it was busted, but the game appeared on screen and everything seemed fine, so I feel that the laser probably isn't the issue. I went to boot it up again, no weird noise this time, but the disc tray just keeps ejecting. Doesn't make any weird noises or anything, just continually ejects. The access light keeps flashing too.
What should I do first?

Turn it off with the tray open, then push the tray carefully almost closed so you're not going to accidentally hit and break it. Take the cover off, then gently pull the tray back out. I can't remember exactly where things were from when I was working on FFCDs unit (though his was a capacitor problem), but there should be a belt and/or gears that open and close they tray. If the belt is worn and stretched, it might not fully close properly. Or the switch that lets it know the tray is open or closed might be a little corroded and need the contacts cleaned.

The belt and the gears seem to in fine condition. Also, I managed to get it working if I just hold the tray shut when it tries to eject. Where is the switch that might be corroded?

I don't have a model 1 in front of me. There might be a cluster of 3 copper leaves with a clear or black block of plastic on the end. Depending on which way it's pushed it contacts to indicate closed or open on a lot of CD drives of that vintage. Maybe if you can take a picture with the tray opened out of the way?
