I got a PS3 today and found out that it doesn't come with any AV component cables or HDMI cables, which I think is stupid, but so be it.
Anyways, I have been looking on amazon to buy some HDMI cables and there are so many different brands, ranging in price from $10-50. Does anyone have a solid recommendation, or are they all pretty much the same and I should just buy one of the cheaper ones?
For example, this one looks pretty good:

Definitely go to monoprice, you can choose which version of HDMI cable, length, color, etc and they are cheaper than anyone else.

I've bought these cables from Amazon before. They're a few dollars more but they're very good quality.
It seems that monoprice has a good reputation among people so that's probably fine.

Get the cheapest one you can find. As long as your PS3 is less than 2m away any HDMI cable will work. I paid £3 each for mine. They work flawlessly.
I also can't believe that Sony don't even put a component cable in the box. It's disgusting. Penny pinching of the lowest order. I was so shocked when I opened my brand new PS3 to find a shitty fucking composite cable. I mean not even a fucking RGB SCART... Fucking composite.
It left an especially bad taste in my mouth when the 360 comes with a pretty good quality combined component and composite cable...

Yeah I have to agree with Niode on that one, it's pretty silly the PS3 only came with AV cables.
I had a friend that works at Best Buy hook me up with a few HDMI cables for cheap, haha.

I couldn't believe it either! Inexcusable.

Truth, Maybe pay a couple of extra dollars for maybe better build quality from the connectors but Niode is absolutely correct. HDMI is digital so as long as it functions it will work perfectly. Expensive HDMI is a waste unless you are running long lengths just as Niode said.Niode wrote:Get the cheapest one you can find. As long as your PS3 is less than 2m away any HDMI cable will work. I'm a bit of a home theatre snob and I wouldn't spend more than $10 on a short cable.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.
