I was dissapointed with FFXIII, but it doesn't merit the amount of hate I see from some people. Three areas where the game totally kicks ass is the combat system, the graphics and the soundtrack. That's enough to make the game decent at the very least and it was those things that made me not completely regret the time I spent with. Also, I love Sazh and Fang

I will agree that the music and the combat system were very good, and that's sometimes all you can ask for out of an RPG (FFX). I'm generally indifferent to impressive graphics, I much prefer style over technical prowess.

The thing that got me about FFXIII was that it just wasn't fun. At all. It didn't feel like a FF game in the slightest, even less than FFXII felt like one. I hated every single character too, that didn't help.

See, its interesting that you say it wasn't fun. I agree, but you, like a lot of people, at least enjoyed the combat.

I didn't. In battle I was always either bored or annoyed by the paradigm system.

I'm not a total hater though. I did enjoy the music and the environments. One way or another its a beautiful game.

it's taken me nearly a decade to appreciate FFVII. I like it a lot more now than I did then. But it's really not "up there" for me. I can say I get more enjoyment out of XIII than VII.

it's taken me nearly a decade to appreciate FFVII. I like it a lot more now than I did then. But it's really not "up there" for me. I can say I get more enjoyment out of XIII than VII.

I thought XIII told the story it was trying to tell very well, it's just a different kind of story than we're used to. They really captured the theme of "us against the world" in terms of the world design and the story pacing. It just ran counter to the standard "us against an evil empire that controls a piece of the world" that we're used to.

This FF Versus XIII trailer looks like Final Fantasy trying to be some mix of a Western game and Devil May Cry. It's weird. I'm not sure if I like it. The hairstyles are cool though.

It looks like it's adopting gameplay in the vein of Kingdom Hearts, which makes sense, being that the same dev team is working on it supposedly.
