With a guide, probably. I forked out $71 for a CIB copy of the US in very good condition. I honestly have never looked back on that purchase with anything but satisfaction.Jrecee wrote:Is the japanese version of guardian heroes figuroutable?
Best Saturn game between $10-$25

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Agreed. This game has brought me nothing but joy. I have paid eBay prices for it twice - once for a disc only and more recently for a CIB. I would gladly do it again.Flake wrote:I forked out $71 for a CIB copy of the US in very good condition. I honestly have never looked back on that purchase with anything but satisfaction.

It is completely playable. The only thing you'd be missing is the silly story. Use a FAQ or pay triple or more for the English version.Jrecee wrote:Is the japanese version of guardian heroes figuroutable?

I like the story...Breetai wrote: The only thing you'd be missing is the silly story.
Besides, if he doesn't have a PAR yet, the cost of that and the Japanese version is not that far removed from a CIB copy of the US version.

Also, don't forget that this game has multiple pathways. You will be asked to choose which stage to proceed to at certain points in the game. It will be impossible to tell where you are going in the Japanese version without a faq.

It's rare for me to care about a game's storyline much, especially anime type storylines. I figured I could get more use out of the action replay than just guardian heroes, but then again, I'm not sure how many jap only saturn games I actually care about. I'm not into 2D fighters and I only need so many 2D space shooters. I don't even have the cheap US ones yet.
Re: Best Saturn game between $10-$25
I played GH in Japanese. Didn't feel like I was missing much - sometimes I use a guide, other times I just make random choices, it's fun either way. You do at least need a guide to know which squiggles correspond to certain stats. Don't want to accidentally invest a lot of points in something that is useless for your character/play-style.
Good thing is that the EN and JP version both use the same save files (from what I've heard), so you could start out with the JP version and switch to the EN version when it is comfortable for you without losing your progress.
Sure, getting Action Replay + GH is a lot of money, but you need Action Replay anyway.

Can't believe that no one mentioned this, but the best Saturn game between $10 and $25 dollars is Sega Rally Championship. Unless you already have it, in which case buy Virtua Fighter 2 or Street Fighter Collection if you have an Action Replay cause the US release is pricey.
