Nintendo: Project Cafe - Wii U
Re: Nintendo: Project Cafe
I find it hard to believe that it will be backwards compatible with Wii/GC (unless it's been stated that it will be already?).

Re: Nintendo: Project Cafe
Couldn't the supposed Cafe controller play Gamecube games also, no need for the ports? Now the memory cards could be a problem, but the could make an adapter like PS3 had for memory cards and use internal memory.Inazuma wrote:Cafe will play Wii games but we don't know if it will also play Gamecube games. I know the Wii basically is a Gamecube in a different shell, so it's certainly very possible. However, Nintendo would save money by not having 4 Gamecube controller ports and 2 Gamecube memory card slots on the Cafe.darthmunky wrote:I just hope this new console has a classic controller (as default) and is backwards compatible with GameCube and Wii games.

Good ideas. That could work.pepharytheworm wrote:Couldn't the supposed Cafe controller play Gamecube games also, no need for the ports? Or you could do both.fastbilly1 wrote:Why make it backwards compatible, when you can sell the same games a second time with new controls?

Re: Nintendo: Project Cafe
I'm waiting for Nintendo to announce that Cafe is backwards compatible with all their systems dating back to the NES. Just so they have an excuse to re-release their old classic cartridge games and make everybody buy them a third, fourth, or fifth time..
Actually, that would be an awesome idea!

That sounds too good to be true.Rurouni_Fencer wrote:I'm waiting for Nintendo to announce that Cafe is backwards compatible with all their systems dating back to the NES. Re: Nintendo: Project Cafe
After seeing some possible new images of the console honestly as a designer it looks like a router and not a game console. Plus it looks unstable to be upright so that means we have to buy a stand like the ps3 slim? F that. I really hope those are fakes or early concepts. $0.02

I do wonder what reason the brand loyalists will have for no buying this one. I mean, there's always the "Nintendo's too cutesy/family-oriented" but then there's the ones
who'll try compose a legitimate argument such as "no decent 3rd party titles". I mean, the Gamecube had that somewhat and it died a death. It freaks me out to no end the extent to which folk buy into console branding.
