To get back on topic (ha! ^^;; ) these might not exactly be Super Famicom exclusives, but there were enough changes when the games got localized that they're worth getting in their original forms - Panel de Pon, Ranma 1/2 Neighborhood Combat, and Assault Suits Valken.

Panel de Pon became Tetris Attack, with MAJOR graphical changes - all the cute little anime-styled fairies became Yoshi and friends, and the final bosses became Bowser and whoever else I'm not sure of (I don't have the US version of the game... Yet! :P ) and the very last final boss was removed.

Ranma 1/2 became Street Combat, also with major graphical changes, but this time it was worse - the anime characters became awful generic fighter characters, and I don't know what happened to the story (not sure I WANT to know either...)

Assault Suits Valken became Cybernator. This game, thankfully, didn't have much changed, except for the lack of character portraits when the characters talked, and the removal of one very pivotal final scene - the villian of the game pointing a gun at his head and shooting himself.

There might be more, but this is all I can think of at the moment!

There were 3 SNES/SFami fighting games.

Neighborhood Combat, which as mentioned was butchered for the US.

Hard Battle is the one you're thinking of that came out here. Still not really a good game.

Super Battle didn't make it over, which is a shame because it's actually ok. Granted it's not SFII good, but decent enough if you like Ranma 1/2.

I own Street Combat and have played through it(not very hard to do). As far as I can tell, the only story explanation is at the very end, when the mayor gives you some kind of award for being the best fighter. And that's about it. The gameplay is so poor that included it in my list of the worst fighting games to be released in the US on the Super Nintendo. It's just plain awful.

As for Ranma 1/2 Hard Battle, the only changes that I know of were cosmetic, so the game's still intact.

Great thread, guys!

Not exclusive. Came to the US as "Smartball." The sequel, however, never made it stateside. There is an English patch for it, too :D

I totally forgot about this thread I posted. This might have been my first thread I started. Since then I have gotten well over 100 sfc exclusives.
