I may have others in some of the larger console collections, but I'll give those a more thorough examination later.

Anyway, I'm now considerably closer to a goal I had set for my collection, which is to have completed over 250 of my games by the end of the year. I'm sitting at 245/250 now.
Awesome! My "goal" is quite a bit more long term - to be through half of my collection or better by the end of 2017. If I can maintain a rate of beating 100 games or so a year I should have no problem, but 2017 will be 10 years since I joined this site and really "got into" retro gaming as a hobby so that's a target date. I am also collecting less and less retro games now since I have many of my collections to right about where I want them...so the growth has slowed.

I should go through and catalog how many games I have beaten in my collection though - I have an old Backloggery account but the thought of adding all those games....ugh.
Yeah, it can be a grueling process. When I first started at that site I made sure I had a full empty day to plug my info in. I have to go through from time to time and sweep it to make sure it's accurate, but certain sections of the collection are large enough that I avoid them until I can take a Saturday morning to get it done. The sad thing is I know there are more games from my girlfriend's collection that haven't been added in, so it's not actually an accurate reflection of how much I've completed on a percentage basis.

Castlevania Aria of Sorrow on GBA. I didn't get all the souls though. I missed Legion's by defeating him incorrectly.

Something Amiss (Flash)
Assassin's Creed II (X360)
Magicka (PC)
Portal 2 (PC)
Portal 1 (PC) *New*

So I went back to Portal 1, and it didn't seem anywhere as difficult as I first thought. However, those last few puzzles I couldn't see any 'simple' way of completing them. My method of completion involved quite a few portal jumps but that's just the way I think around the map. Having seen other people play the chambers/maps that I used portal jumping on in Portal 2, it isn't necessary to complete them. I've always been a bit of an acrobatic player, I jump around the map wildly with the Hunter in L4D, I used to be very highly ranked in the official Rope Ladder (where you use Ninja ropes to fly around the map to kill your opponent) for Worms 2 and Armageddon. So I tend to gravitate to that sort of solution when faced with a problem.

Thoughts on the Game(s)

Really great game from start to finish I really enjoyed it and it bettered the first in ever way, story in particular. I found the end boss pretty easy and the loading screens were something you dont see too often today, but overall a 9.9/10 effort for sure.

I am about 2 hours into the co-op via split screen with my mate, cant wait until he comes over next so we can get back into it.

Games in italics have been beaten in previous years.
Games that have an underlined x followed by a number shows the number of times I have beaten them this year. (example: x3)
  • Red Dead Redemption (PS3)
    Demon's Souls (PS3)
    Dead Space: Ignition (PSN)
    Dead Space 2 (PS3)
    Costume Quest (PSN)
    Blueberry Garden (PC Download)
    Donkey Kong (NES)
    Donkey Kong 3 (NES)
    Donkey Kong Jr. (NES)
    Golf (NES)
    Mega Man 2 (NES)
    Mega Man 4 (NES)
    Kororinpa: Marble Mania (Wii)
    Mega Man 6 (NES)
Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard (PS3)
    Tomb Raider Underworld (PS3)
    The Conduit (Wii)
New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii)
    Red Steel (Wii)
    Puzzle Agent (PC Download)
Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean (GCN)
    Portal (PC Download)
    Hamsterball (PSN) x2

*New*Blue Toad Murder Files: Episode 1 (PSN)
Its late, and I am tired, so Im not gonna say much about these new games. If you want to know more ask.

Blue Toad is an episodic Proffersor Layton clone escentially. First episode is currently free on PSN (when it comes back of course). I got all the trophies for it. It was charming for what it is, might pick up the other 5 episodes for 10 bucks. The most interesting part of the game is that it is all voiced by one guy.

    *New*Portal 2 (PS3)
What is there to say that others have not. Great game, better then the first, but a tad easier because I already know the portal mechanics.

    *New*The Path (PC Download)
This is a strange one. Its more art then game, but then more atmosphere then art. You have to play through with all seven girls to finish this off. Worth 10 bucks? No, but I got it for 1, so it was a good little distraction. Probably won't ever go back to it.

    *New*Tag (PC Download)
Now this one is interesting. I don't normally put freeware games on this list because then my OCD kicks in and I feel like I need to put it in my backlog, and then I feel like a need to put all the free games I ever played in my backlog. I have to draw a line. But this is an exception for one simple reason. This Digipen student project is the origins of the gels found in Portal 2. It was most interesting that Valve ended up cutting a gel that lets you walk up walls and ceilings in favour of the conversion gel. Short game, but worth checking out. Download here: https://www.digipen.edu/studentprojects/tag/
Total: 27

Up next?
Going to take a look at Portals origins, Narbacular Drop, then on to an undetermined older game, maybe Sin and Punishment or Bubble Bobble.

I've been meaning to get around to Blue Toad Murder Files. I have it on Steam. It looks cool.

The Path is a weird one isn't it? I never really want to play it, but the experience sticks with me and I still think about that game.

Thanks for the recommend on Tag. I need to check this one out. Digipen has some amazingly good output. Narbacular Drop is another Digipen title and definitely worth your time, though I think you will find that after playing the well polished Portal it is definitely a humble beginning. My favorite digipen project at the moment is Terra: Legend of the Geochine. I also like Synaesthete.

And for another game that feels like Portal, but with a different mechanic, try Sarah's Run

This is the first Castlevania title I've ever beaten.

This took me 4 or 5 days playing here and there. I've been busy, so special thanks to the password system, heh. 8-1 and B-2 both gave me hell, but over all the game was a lot of fun.

I still have Bloodlines sitting on the shelf. I'll have to work on that soon.

Don't expect Blue Toad to have much replay value. Could be fun to play through with a girlfriend or something though.

And yes, The Path is quite strange. Like you said, I never really want to play it either. I only did because I was bored. Its not like I dislike it though, I guess I just still don't know what to think about it. I also have The Void, which is supposed to be even stranger, also brutally hard, I look forward to playing it.

And thanks for those suggestions. Will keep them in mind for later.
