Re: Happy Easter!
I eat meat, just saying. But I've become more aware of just how bad the industry really is. I might not remember the figures too accurately, but you can still take the point of it. The expected life of a dairy cow is suppose to be something like 20 years. The actual life is more like 3-5 years. This is because of the poor condition they keep these cows in, the inadequate food they feed them, the drugs they give them, etc. That's like a human dying before their first birthday because they were malnourished and given hormones and antibiotics they didn't need.
I'm not saying any one is a hypocrite here, I'm just passing on some info I've learned. Seems to me that if a big reason why you don't eat cow meat is because you're against the way they're treated, then you shouldn't drink milk either. Ideally, you really don't want to be eating/drinking that garbage anyway, it's no good for you. Actually, it's very bad for you. I try to only drink Green Way organic milk. The proof of these facts, to me, is how much different the milk tastes.
But yeah, all the crap you get in addition to your cow or chicken meat is no good for you. Meat is expensive, and organic meat even more so. But eating organic meat is the way to go. At least these animals were treated much better before they were slaughtered. And at least you're not poisoning yourself.
edit: PS, I love the radical redirection this thread keeps taking. I nominate it for thread of the year!

A lot of the things you're saying are some of the reasons I don't eat meat (and many others, I'm sure). I don't ingest dairy products either, and I agree that would indeed be hypocritical. I eat lactose-free cheese and drink organic milk and lactose-free milk though.Ziggy587 wrote:I eat meat, just saying. But I've become more aware of just how bad the industry really is. I was thinking the same thing in regard to how crazy this thread got.
Edit: I also want to point out to anyone that's been reading this thread as of late that I'm not the kind of jerk that looks down upon other people for eating meat at all, nor am I some liberal-hippie douche.

We can take this thread in a political direction if you want.Limewater wrote:I blame Bush.BurningDoom wrote:How did a simple, heartfelt, Happy Easter get so out of control?

How about we don't. Too many people simply parrot what they hear on Faux News or MSNBCommie. And then anger happens.BoringSupreez wrote:We can take this thread in a political direction if you want.Limewater wrote:I blame Bush.BurningDoom wrote:How did a simple, heartfelt, Happy Easter get so out of control?
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
Re: Happy Easter!
That's good, from what I've been learning, dairy isn't that great for you to begin with. I love milk and cheese, always have. So it'd be hard for me to drop it, especially if only for principle. But I'm learning about how shitty our food is, so I'm trying to make conscious decisions about I eat in regard to my health.brunoafh wrote:A lot of the things you're saying are some of the reasons I don't eat meat (and many others, I'm sure). The conditions and procedure that we get our meat and milk from is pretty common knowledge these days. But what's scary is that just about ALL of our food is either no good for us or doesn't have the nourishment our bodies want, and this isn't common knowledge. And what's worse is that it's the hardest thing to wrap your head around, and you have to unlearn some things. That and it can also sound like conspiracy theory hippie nonsense, most people disregard it because it sounds like bullshit. Then when you explain Nutrition Response Testing to people, some people think is voodoo, witchcraft, sacrilegious, etc.
NRT:
Whole Food Supplements:
That's the dude (top link) to watch. I've heard that some doctors don't follow NRT 100%, or keep up with new discoveries. I can go on and on about NRT and whole food supplements, but if you're interested in that, I recommend reading up on it. I find it fascinating. I could explain it more if anyone wants, but I didn't wanna type up a wall of text about some random topic. But NRT is just about the coolest thing I've ever heard about.
